On its third quarter of 2026 earnings call, held on Oct. 21, 2026, Texas Instruments (NASDAQ:TXN) announced that revenue reached $6.1 billion as broad demand across industrial and data center markets signaled a cyclical recovery. Expanding internal manufacturing capacity positions the business to capture long-term chip demand while avoiding reliance on external manufacturing partners. Three things management said on the earnings call stand out.

1. Industrial and Data Center Demand Drive Profit Margins Higher

Revenue from data center products nearly doubled year over year, while industrial demand reached a new revenue peak after four years of recovery. This operational leverage, combined with favorable product mix, drove gross margin, the percentage of revenue retained after direct production costs, up 2.8 percentage points sequentially to 64%.

Yes, our margins in third quarter was really driven by higher revenue. That is the largest reason for that increase. But we also did have some benefit from pricing, loadings, and some product and end market mix.
-- Julie C. Knecht, Chief Financial Officer

2. Tight Analog Capacity Creates Selective Pricing Leverage

Industry-wide capacity additions for analog chips, which process real-world signals like temperature and sound, have remained scarce outside China and Taiwan since 2022. Management used urgent mid-year supply requests from customers to secure higher pricing across parts of its product portfolio.

Regarding pricing specifically, look, most of our pricing discussions are done once a year with our customers, but we did see some areas in the middle of the year where we had the opportunity to talk to customers that wanted more supply more urgently.
-- Haviv Ilan, Chief Executive Officer

3. Internal Factory Expansion Secures Control Over Supply Chains

By investing in clean room floor space and wafer fabrication facilities during previous industry downturns, the business established a dependable production hub. Management is expanding capital expenditures, or cash used for physical equipment and facilities, toward $3 billion for 2026 to install assembly tools and meet accelerating customer orders.

We are in a position to control our destiny. We have taken care of the long lead time investments on clean rooms, including all the subfab and all the -- to be fair, the equipment that takes right now a very long time to get and build and get qualified.
-- Haviv Ilan, Chief Executive Officer

Looking Ahead

Demand across industrial, automotive, and data center markets is lifting fourth-quarter guidance above typical seasonal patterns, and management is not hiding its satisfaction about it. Operating internal wafer fabrication and packaging sites gives the company a structural cost advantage that protects supply availability.

Management is watching tool delivery lead times and customer contract negotiations to set capital expenditure levels entering 2027.

During the quarter, we saw broad demand with revenue growth across all end markets and regions. Secular growth of semiconductor content is continuing alongside a strong cyclical recovery.
-- Haviv Ilan, Chief Executive Officer

Free cash flow, the cash left over after paying operating and capital expenses, reached $8.4 billion on a trailing 12-month basis. Management remains focused on converting expanding internal capacity into cash generation for shareholders over time.

We continue to invest in our competitive advantages, which are manufacturing and technology, a broad product portfolio, reach of our channels, and diverse and long-lived positions. We will continue to strengthen these advantages through disciplined capital allocation and by focusing on the best opportunities which we believe will enable us to continue to deliver free cash flow per share growth over the long term.
-- Julie C. Knecht, Chief Financial Officer

Dollar presses 102 as the 10-year yield sits at 5.14% — and October hike odds are only 17%The dollar index closed at 101.99 (+0.20%) on Monday after briefly topping 102.07, while the 10-year Treasury yield rose to 5.14% and the 2-year hit 4.774% — yet futures price only about a 17% chance of a hike at the October 27-28 FOMC, versus roughly 90% for December. The driver is a global bond selloff, not a Fed repricing: France's 10-year OAT jumped to 4.84% ~ 4.94% and the OAT-Bund spread widened to 140 ~ 146bp.
