TradingKey - Filecoin Welcomes Dual Catalysts: Genesis Token Unlock Complete Plus AI Agent Support, FIL Surges Over 10%.

On October 16, decentralized storage project Filecoin released multiple positive catalysts, boosting its token FIL price, which surged over 10% intraday, approaching the $1.2 mark. As of press time, FIL rose to a high of $1.19 and has currently pulled back to $1.10.

On October 15, the unlock schedules for Protocol Labs and the Filecoin Foundation officially concluded, unlocking a cumulative total of 300 million and 100 million FIL, respectively. Over the past six years, the daily unlocked FIL tokens from Protocol Labs and the Foundation served as the primary source of selling pressure in the market.

With unlocks dropping to zero, the long-standing market pressure from institutional unlocks has been cleared in one go, causing FIL's annualized issuance rate to drop sharply from around 9.7% to about 2.2%. As storage services and on-chain gas fee burns continue, FIL's economic model is rapidly transitioning from a high-inflation framework toward a low-inflation or even structural deflationary model.

In addition to the major supply-side inflation slowdown, Filecoin announced a rapid evolution toward AI Agents and Decentralized AI (DeAI), providing high-performance, cryptographically verifiable decentralized storage. Moreover, it enables AI Agents to directly purchase Filecoin storage space and retrieval services autonomously via on-chain micropayments, injecting immense demand-side potential into the FIL token.

Next, attention can be focused on the upcoming Solstice upgrade. Next Monday (October 19), Filecoin will undergo the Solstice network upgrade (v29), which aims to fully transition network rewards toward a service-centric economic model, prioritizing storage orders from paying customers and directly paving the way for AI Agent decentralized data services.
