Robinhood takes Crypto.com stakes in prediction markets deal

Robinhood Markets has agreed to list Crypto.com’s yes-or-no event contracts on its app.

The company has also agreed to buy minority stakes in both the exchange and its newly separated prediction-markets arm, OG.com.

What did Robinhood and Crypto.com agree to?

Robinhood (NASDAQ: HOOD), which is already making a lot of money from event contracts, with its revenue jumping more than tenfold to $156 million in the second quarter, has also launched its own blockchain, which is currently the top network for daily fees.

Robinhood is teaming up with Crypto.com in a multi-year deal during which it will offer Crypto.com’s prediction-market contracts to its users. It will also take a small ownership stake in both Crypto.com and its spinoff, OG.com.

The exact amount Robinhood is investing was not shared, but after Citadel Securities bought stakes in July, it valued Crypto.com at $15 billion and OG.com at $5 billion.

Crypto.com recently made OG.com its own separate company, and Robinhood will start offering OG.com’s contracts on its app starting September 8.

Prediction markets are becoming a major part of Robinhood’s business right when the football season is starting, and midterm elections are coming up. JB Mackenzie, Robinhood’s Vice President, said the deal will help them offer better prices and a wider range of contracts to their customers.

The number of event contracts traded hit a record 13.6 billion, which was also more than ten times higher than a year ago. Overall, Robinhood’s total net revenue for the quarter reached an all-time high of $1.31 billion, a 32% increase from the previous year.

However, there is tough competition. Combined trading volume on the top platforms, Kalshi and Polymarket, has passed $130 billion in 2026. Big companies like Meta (NASDAQ: META) and major sportsbooks like FanDuel and DraftKings are also moving into the industry.

How much money is Robinhood making from its new blockchain?

Robinhood’s new blockchain network is generating a lot of money in fees, up to $2.13 million over 24 hours, making it one of the top-earning networks in the crypto world.

DefiLlama separately reported that the Robinhood Chain generated $4.01 million in revenue in a single 24-hour period, which was the most of any network at that time.

Analysts at Bernstein kept an “Outperform” rating on Robinhood stock and raised their price target to $160 million from $130 million in annual fees by 2028. The network’s success is partly due to the growing interest in trading tokenized stocks, which now makes up about 27% of the activity on the chain.

Cryptopolitan reported that Robinhood keeps about 90% of the fees from its blockchain, while the technology provider Arbitrum gets the rest. On-chain tracker, EmberCN, put the network’s total revenue at $42.58 million, or 17,171 ETH, over its first 70 days, meaning the network has been bringing in roughly $608,000 per day on average since its launch.

Notably, AMC Entertainment’s CEO Adam Aron has called Robinhood’s tokenized stocks tied to AMC shares “outrageous,” saying they carry no affiliation with the company, and Robinhood has refused to pull them.

Crypto.com, for its part, is working toward an IPO, though Kris Marszalek, the company’s CEO, said no timing has been set.
