Project Cutting Edge achieved 80% of its $475 million savings target.
Operating free cash flow rose by over $900 million year to date.
Divestitures generated over $200 million across more than 140 facilities.
On its third quarter of 2026 earnings call, held on Oct. 26, 2026, CEMEX (NYSE:CX) announced net sales growth of approximately 8% year over year. Operational efficiency initiatives are shifting revenue into durable cash flows even during sluggish building cycles. Three things management said stand out.
Through Project Cutting Edge, the company's internal cost reduction program, CEMEX is trimming operational expenses to widen operating profit margins across its global operations. Management expects the remaining cost cuts to expand profitability further into 2027.
We have now achieved 80% of our $475 million cost savings target, with the remaining $95 million expected to primarily benefit 2027 results.
-- Jaime Muguiro Domínguez, Chief Executive Officer
CEMEX is executing asset pruning, a strategy of selling lower-return concrete facilities to reinvest capital into higher-margin core markets. Strategic asset sales accelerate portfolio efficiency while generating cash for reinvestment.
Since launching this initiative last year, estimated cash proceeds including both completed and announced transactions total more than $200 million and include more than 140 facilities.
-- Jaime Muguiro Domínguez, Chief Executive Officer
Broader efficiency gains boosted free cash flow from operations, which measures cash generated after covering daily operating expenses and capital spending. Higher operational cash flow gives CEMEX financial flexibility to reduce debt and fund strategic initiatives.
Year to date, free cash flow from operations increased by more than $900 million year over year.
-- Jaime Muguiro Domínguez, Chief Executive Officer
Input costs are creeping higher across global markets, but CEMEX shows readiness to handle rising energy expenses. Fixed-price power contracts, alternative fuel usage, and pricing discipline protect operating margins as management monitors energy inflation.
In addition, in Europe, we have already contracted about 60% of our electricity needs at fixed prices, only 4% above this year's levels.
-- Maher Al-Haffar, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Structural cost reductions, debt paydown, and digital automation position the company for sustainable cash generation across economic cycles.
By continuing to improve what we can control, we are well positioned to further strengthen earnings quality, cash generation, and shareholder returns over time.
