Roblox (NYSE: RBLX) stock is down 36% in 2026 as of Oct. 20, even though revenue and free cash flow continue to grow. The sell-off stems from a slowdown in engagement and bookings, but the company is making changes that could set up stronger growth over the next few years.

In the second quarter of 2026, revenue rose 36% year over year to about $1.5 billion. However, bookings -- a more accurate measure of what players spend on the platform -- grew just 8% to roughly $1.6 billion, at the low end of management's guidance. The slower growth in bookings reflects weaker engagement: daily active users increased by 10% to 123 million, while hours spent on the platform rose by only 5%.

Part of the slowdown was intentional. Roblox added safety measures, including age checks before players can access in-game chat, which reduced engagement during the quarter. It also adjusted its discovery algorithms to favor games that keep players longer, which temporarily steered users away from titles that drive higher near-term bookings. These steps are meant to build a stronger foundation for long-term growth.

Catalysts are already emerging that could improve engagement. A new artificial intelligence-powered creation tool called Build is designed to help developers create higher-quality experiences, which should support greater engagement and bookings over time.

Importantly, the business continues to generate strong cash flow. Free cash flow jumped 66% year over year to $294 million in Q2 2026. That lifted trailing-12-month free cash flow to $1.6 billion.

Third-quarter results on Oct. 29 will be the next key checkpoint. Management expects bookings to decline from a year ago. Investors should watch growth in daily active users and management's outlook for engagement and bookings heading into 2027, which will likely have a greater impact on the stock.

For patient investors, the pullback has left the stock trading at just 22 times free cash flow -- a more reasonable entry point while Roblox works through these near-term headwinds.
