Muse Wonder Lifts Meta Stock 3.4%: Can Subscriptions Pay for Its AI Spending?

Source Beincrypto

Meta stock (META) rose 3.4% on Monday after the company launched Muse Wonder, its first top-tier frontier AI model. That is roughly a third of the 11% one-day surge Muse enthusiasm sparked in September.

Meta says its benchmarks put Wonder and the larger Muse Wonder Full level with top systems from OpenAI and Anthropic. The smaller reaction suggests investors priced in much of the turnaround during September’s rally.

Why Did Meta Stock React Less Than It Did to Muse?

Meta climbed even as S&P 500 tech stocks fell 0.9%, according to Bloomberg. Still, the gain trailed September’s 11% one-day jump on Muse, Meta’s personal AI agent. Shares gained nearly 27% across September.

Meta’s benchmark comparisons come from its own testing, TechCrunch reported. Muse Wonder Full, the stronger model, is limited to subscribers of Muse Code, Meta’s AI coding tool.

Developers can buy only the smaller Wonder, at $4 per million input tokens, the text units models read. That price sits close to Anthropic’s Opus 5.5, which suggests a subscription play rather than a developer land grab.

Can Subscriptions Justify the Spending Behind Wonder?

Wonder will soon power the Muse agent, initially for paying subscribers. Oppenheimer analyst Jason Helfstein estimates 115 million subscribers at $20 monthly would yield roughly $28 billion annually.

Wells Fargo analyst Ken Gawrelski raised his Meta price target to $1,000. He still expects Meta’s commentary to keep near-term revenue hopes modest and calls fiscal 2027 the earnings low point.

Distribution risk also looms. Amazon blocked Muse from its site last month, accusing it of browsing without identifying itself. Meta shares trade near $742. That is nearly 5% below the September peak of $779.82.

Frontier-level benchmarks may be becoming table stakes for Big Tech. The next revaluation could hinge on paying users, not model scores.
