US Special Envoy Witkoff says mediators completed round of US-Iran talks

United States (US) Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, said the US held "lengthy" indirect talks with the Iranian delegation via mediators on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Reuters reported on Tuesday.
Witkoff said that the mediators "shuttled between the two sides throughout the day," adding that they successfully completed a round of talks "that we hope will prove constructive and promising.”
Witkoff further stated that the mediators will continue their work without sharing no further details.
The Guardian reported that a senior Iranian official indicated the country was prepared to reopen the strait of Hormuz within a week, as long as the US took reciprocal steps to ease the military and economic pressure it is applying on Iran.
