On its third-quarter 2026 earnings call, held on Oct. 20, 2026, Home Bancorp (NASDAQ:HBCP) announced a planned leadership transition for January 2027. Understanding how the regional lender navigates succession alongside credit quality and loan pipeline growth provides vital insight into its long-term value. Three key takeaways from the call stand out for long-term investors.

1. CEO John Bordelon Announces Planned Leadership Transition for 2027

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer John Bordelon will retire as chief executive in January 2027. President Darren Guidry will step into the executive role after more than three decades at the bank, ensuring leadership continuity.

When we named Darren President in July, we said we were putting in place a leadership structure to sustain our next phase of growth, and this is the next step in that plan.
-- John Bordelon, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

2. Credit Expense Pressures Net Income Despite Core Revenue Resilience

Higher foreclosed asset costs and interest reversals on nonaccrual loans (loans where interest payments are past due and no longer recognized as income) squeezed quarterly net income. Net interest income, the profit earned on loans after paying interest on deposits, still reached a record high, supported by a low total deposit cost of 1.7%.

Our results were impacted by higher credit-related costs, including elevated foreclosed asset expense and the reversal of interest on loans moved to nonaccrual status. The quarter did demonstrate the resilience of our core earnings.
-- Darren Guidry, President

3. Expanding Loan Pipeline Positions the Bank for Near-Term Activity

The loan pipeline reached $440 million, with $132 million in committed loans expected to close by early 2027. Deal flow centers on commercial and industrial (C&I) loans, which finance business operations, as well as on commercial real estate.

The pipeline is well diversified across our markets and loan types and consists primarily of smaller business banking credits with a heavy focus on C&I owner-occupied commercial real estate, along with a few larger commercial relationships.
-- Darren Guidry, President

Looking Ahead

Core deposit discipline and asset sensitivity position the balance sheet well as interest rates fluctuate. Low deposit costs and stable liquidity provide structural advantages across regional markets, even as leadership monitors competitive deposit pricing. According to Chief Financial Officer David Kirkley, "We expect continued competition for deposits, but we will remain well disciplined in our pricing."

Growth in primary markets such as Houston provides operational momentum alongside capital buffers. That foundation supports long-term execution through economic cycles. Bordelon added, "I am confident that Home Bank's best days are ahead of it and that the company is in very good hands."
