Greenland Concept Stocks Surge Pre-Market, Greenland Energy Jumps Over 220% at One Point

TradingKey - On September 21, US stocks related to Greenland resources surged in pre-market trading. Greenland Energy (GLND) jumped over 220% at one point, Greenland Mines (GRML) soared nearly 130% at its peak, and Critical Metals (CRML) gained over 37% at one point. The market is refocusing on Greenland's resource development potential, with the sharp rally in related stocks tied to a recent security agreement reached among the US, Denmark, and Greenland.

On September 18 local time, US President Trump announced that the US, Denmark, and Greenland had reached an agreement on security affairs, stating that the deal would grant the US long-term authority regarding Greenland's security and other requirements. However, Danish and Greenlandic officials subsequently emphasized that the arrangements recognize the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Denmark as well as the right to self-determination of the people of Greenland, adding that the agreement will further strengthen Arctic security cooperation. The three parties plan to formally sign the agreement during the UN General Assembly.

The advancement of security cooperation has also brought Greenland's natural resources back into market focus. Greenland possesses abundant rare earth elements and other critical mineral resources, and in recent years, the US, Europe, and other regions have been increasing their focus on critical mineral supply chains in the Arctic.

Critical Metals is advancing the Tanbreez rare earth project in southern Greenland, while Greenland Mines is developing the Skaergaard project in southeastern Greenland, making the stock prices of these companies sensitive to changes in geopolitics and resource policies.
