After finding out about Len Sassaman’s cat Sasha, memecoin fans created Sasha Cat ($Sasha) on Solana. The coin was launched yesterday and has increased by 1,226% and amassed more than 11k members Telegram.

After HBO released a trailer for a documentary titled Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery, which investigates the real identity of Satoshi Nakamoto, rumors surfaced online that the documentary will conclude that Len Sassaman is the real creator of Bitcoin.

People started to research more about Len Sassaman. In fact, his name began trending on Google Trends and peaked on October 5th. His Twitter page is still up and filled with many posts, including pictures of his cat Sasha.

Memecoin fans did not hold back and quickly created a new cat coin named after Len’s cat, Sasha Cat ($Sasha). The memecoin was launched yesterday on Solana and is available for trading on Raydium and Jupiter DEX. Currently, Sasha Cat has a community of 11,357 members on Telegram and a highly active Twitter page with more than 10,000 followers.

According to DEX Tools, $Sasha has increased by 1,226% since its creation and now has more than 1,800 holders. At the time of writing, Sasha’s market cap is $1.15 million, and its fully diluted market cap (FDV) is $1.18 million. The coin has a total supply of 100 trillion, and all coins are in circulation. Sasha Cat is trading at a price of $0.00000000001173, with a 24-hour trading volume of $324K.

Sasha Cat is not the only memecoin

Sasha Cat isn’t the only memecoin issued to capitalize on the fame of Len Sassaman. According to CoinMarketCap, three tokens with the ticker LEN were issued on Solana and Ethereum.

One of the LEN tokens issued on Ethereum was extremely successful. The memecoin is trading against WETH and has achieved a profit of 28,573%, just in the last 24 hours according to Dex Tools. The token has a total supply of 21 million coins just like Bitcoin and has a market cap of $892K.

Memecoins fans have also created another cat coin named Odin, claiming that it’s the name of Sassaman’s first cat. They claim his wife, Meredith L. Patterson, talked about Odin first in a blogpost.

Many people have been communicating with Patterson on X. For example a user asked her to list the names of her pets while others asked for her Solana wallet address to send her donations.
HBO will air the documentary on October 8th at 9 PM (ET). More than 23.5% voted on Polymarket that Len is the real creator of Bitcoin. If the documentary reveals that Len Sassaman is the real Satoshi Nakamoto, the crypto market will react in unpredictable ways. A user on X said that “if Len really is Satoshi $SASHA could reach $1B+.”

Bitcoin briefly loses 2025 gains as crypto plunges over the weekend.Bitcoin experienced a sharp decline this weekend, briefly erasing its 2025 gains and dipping below its year-opening value of $93,507. The cryptocurrency fell to a low of $93,029 on Sunday, representing a 25% drop from its all-time high in October. Although it has rebounded slightly to around $94,209, the pressures on the market remain significant. The downturn occurred despite the reopening of the U.S. government on Thursday, which many had hoped would provide essential support for crypto markets. This year initially appeared promising for cryptocurrencies, particularly after the inauguration of President Donald Trump, who has established the most pro-crypto administration thus far. However, ongoing political tensions—including Trump's tariff strategies and the recent government shutdown, lasting a historic 43 days—have contributed to several rapid price pullbacks for Bitcoin throughout the year. Market dynamics are also being influenced by Bitcoin whales—investors holding large amounts of Bitcoin—who have been offloading portions of their assets, consequently stalling price rallies even as positive regulatory developments emerge. Despite these sell-offs, analysts from Glassnode argue that this behavior aligns with typical patterns seen among long-term investors during the concluding stages of bull markets, suggesting it is not indicative of a mass exodus. Notably, Bitcoin is not alone in its struggles, as Ethereum and Solana have also recorded declines of 7.95% and 28.3%, respectively, since the start of the year, while numerous altcoins have faced even steeper losses. Looking ahead, questions linger regarding the viability of the four-year cycle thesis, particularly given the increasing institutional support and regulatory frameworks now in place in the crypto landscape. Matt Hougan, chief investment officer at Bitwise, remains optimistic, suggesting a potential Bitcoin resurgence in 2026 driven by the “debasement trade” thesis and a broader trend toward increased adoption of stablecoins, tokenization, and decentralized finance. Hougan emphasized the soundness of the underlying fundamentals, pointing to a positive outlook for the sector in the longer term.
