Bitget, the world’s largest Universal Exchange (UEX), has released its latest Protection Fund report, showing an average valuation of $382 million in August 2026 as Bitcoin rallied through the second half of the month, lifting the fund’s U.S. dollar valuation.

The Protection Fund reached a monthly high of $441.5 million on August 27 and recorded a monthly low of $345.3 million on August 1.

Throughout August, the fund maintained a valuation above its original $300 million commitment, with reserves supported by Bitget’s 5,500 BTC holdings. Based on the daily Protection Fund data, Bitcoin was priced between $62,773 and $80,268 during the month.

Bitget’s Protection Fund tracked Bitcoin’s August surge

August saw Bitcoin gain momentum following a relatively subdued start to the month, accelerating sharply in the second half and moving above $80,000 before easing toward month-end.

Bitcoin rose from $62,773 on August 1 to $78,553 on August 31, an increase of more than 25%.

The appreciation contributed to a higher valuation for Bitget’s BTC-denominated Protection Fund, which ended the month at approximately $432 million.

Bitget transparency and security follows business expansion

Established in 2022, the Protection Fund serves as an additional layer of protection designed to safeguard user assets during extreme market events. The fund’s valuation is published transparently and updated regularly, providing users with clear visibility into available reserves as market conditions evolve.

“Strong markets don’t reduce the need for strong safeguards,” said Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget. “As our ecosystem expands across asset classes, user protection and transparency have to scale with it. Maintaining substantial onchain reserves and making their value publicly visible is part of building that trust into the platform.”

The Protection Fund operates alongside Bitget’s Proof of Reserves (PoR), which maintains reserves exceeding user assets across major holdings. Together, these measures form part of the exchange’s broader security architecture, combining verifiable asset backing with an additional reserve pool designed to support users during unexpected incidents.

The latest update comes as Bitget continues expanding its Universal Exchange ecosystem across crypto assets, tokenized stocks, commodities, and other financial markets.

As users increasingly trade across multiple asset classes within a single platform, maintaining transparent and verifiable safeguards remains a core component of the exchange’s risk management framework.
