On its third-quarter 2026 earnings call, held on Nov. 4, 2026, Kraft Heinz (NYSE:KHC) announced a definitive agreement to divest its North American coffee business to One Rock. The transaction streamlines operations so management can concentrate capital on core brands with higher growth potential. Three key takeaways from the call stand out for long-term investors.

1. Portfolio Simplification Drives Capital to High-Growth Brands

Divesting non-core operations allows management to allocate resources where returns are highest. Kraft Heinz retains a 30% noncontrolling stake in the coffee business, preserving upside while freeing operational focus.

This is an important step in simplifying and strengthening our portfolio. With this transaction, we can concentrate our capital and management attention where we see the greatest potential for growth and where we can create the most value for our consumers, our customers and our shareholders.
-- Steven Cahillane, Chief Executive Officer

2. Targeted Investments Are Refining Shelf Pricing and Innovation

Management is evaluating initial results from its $700 million reinvestment plan across brand lines. While certain promotional tweaks failed to boost some types of sales, data-driven adjustments are refining future trade spending.

We're learning about this incremental investment of what's working, what's not working. The most obvious example that we pointed out is the pricing on Philly cream cheese, which worked in brick, but didn't work on tub. And why is that? And so we explore why that is and we learn from it. We reallocate that investment toward higher returning areas.
-- Steven Cahillane, Chief Executive Officer

3. Input Cost Inflation Will Force Price Hikes Next Year

Rising logistics expenses and fuel costs are pressuring gross margins heading into next year. Management plans to offset input cost increases through internal productivity gains before implementing targeted price increases.

And we've said that all along the consumer is in a fragile state, and we want to take as little price as possible in order to meet the consumers where they are. When you look at what's happening in the fourth quarter of this year into next year, there's clearly more inflation. That's disappointing, but it's real.
-- Steven Cahillane, Chief Executive Officer

Looking Ahead

Freight expenses and commodity pressure are squeezing margins, making internal cost discipline critical. Kraft Heinz relies on trade efficiency and retail partnerships to protect profitability, although price increases next year appear inevitable.

Our first line of defense is against productivity, and we'll continue to ramp up our efforts against productivity. But I do feel like '27 will require price. You're seeing that from the peer set clearly. And so I think that's just the environment that we're going to be in.
-- Steven Cahillane, Chief Executive Officer

Spring shelf resets and innovative brand extensions offer a foundation for volume recovery. Management tracks market share dynamics as consumer demand evolves.

We continue to hold ourselves accountable for market share and for consumption growth, and we're feeling OK about where we are right now, and we're feeling better about what we're building for next year.
-- Steven Cahillane, Chief Executive Officer
