Arista makes Ethernet switches that help eliminate networking bottlenecks in data centers.
The company posted a great second-quarter earnings report and is expected to do the same for Q3.
Investors need to know if demand for Arista's networking equipment will remain strong.
Arista Networks (NYSE: ANET) is scheduled to report third-quarter earnings on Nov. 3, but I think the most important numbers in the report won't have anything to do with the third quarter.
Instead, I'll be watching what management says about the final three months of 2026.
Missed AI’s "Act 1"? Act 2 Could Be 15x Bigger. Most investors think they missed the AI boat because they didn't buy Nvidia in 2005. But according to our analysts, we’re only at the end of "Act 1"—the R&D phase. "Act 2" is the global rollout. Continue »
According to Yahoo Finance, Wall Street expects the artificial intelligence (AI) networking company to generate $3.6 billion in fourth-quarter revenue and earnings of $1.15 per share. Those are some pretty ambitious targets, but I think Arista has a good chance to exceed them.
And if management delivers guidance that beats those expectations, I think Arista stock could soar after Nov. 3.

Arista has become an important supplier of the high-speed networking equipment that connects processors and servers inside massive artificial intelligence data centers.
Companies such as Nvidia are developing increasingly powerful graphics processing units (GPUs), but those chips can't reach their full potential unless enormous amounts of information can move between them quickly.
Arista makes Ethernet switches that help eliminate networking bottlenecks, allowing thousands of processors to work together on demanding AI applications.
The company reported second-quarter revenue of $3.03 billion, a 37.7% increase from a year ago. Diluted earnings per share reached $0.95, compared with $0.70 in the year-earlier period. Management also projected third-quarter revenue of approximately $3.3 billion.
That's in line with what Wall Street projects. According to Yahoo Finance, the consensus Q3 estimates are $3.33 billion in revenue and $1.08 in earnings per share (EPS).
I'm not too worried about Q3 results -- instead, I'd rather look ahead. Investors already know that Arista is growing quickly. What they need to know now is whether demand for their networking equipment will remain strong as cloud computing companies continue to expand their AI infrastructure.
That's why fourth-quarter guidance could be more important than the third-quarter results themselves.
Arista has been introducing new networking products designed to handle increasingly demanding AI workloads.
Its 7060XE7 platform supports connections running at 1.6 terabits per second, while its recently announced Etherlink SU-144 architecture can connect up to 144 AI accelerators within a single-hop network.
Those capabilities are becoming more important as AI data centers grow larger and companies look for ways to get more performance from their expensive processors.
The opportunity is substantial, but so is the competition. Nvidia and Cisco Systems are also pursuing the AI networking market, and Arista depends heavily on spending by major cloud computing companies. Still, I think the company's recent growth gives management a reasonable opportunity to surprise Wall Street.
Arista typically provides quarterly revenue and margin guidance rather than an explicit earnings-per-share forecast. So I'll be watching whether its fourth-quarter revenue outlook exceeds $3.6 billion and whether its projected profitability supports earnings above the $1.15 consensus estimate.
A revenue forecast above expectations would suggest that demand for Arista's networking equipment remains stronger than Wall Street anticipated. Healthy margins would make that growth even more valuable to shareholders.
