AMD Stock Price Forecast: Microsoft AI Partnership Ignites Rally, Stock Price Expected to Rise to $700 in Short Term

Source Tradingkey

TradingKey - As of July 23, Eastern Time, AMD 's stock price has risen by a cumulative 8.86% this week, reaching a high of $548.14. From a market perspective, after a pullback of four consecutive trading days last week, AMD's stock price stopped its decline and rebounded this week. On July 21, the stock, stimulated by positive news that the company and Microsoft ( MSFT) would expand their AI infrastructure partnership, staged a strong rebound.

AMD and Microsoft Partner to Strengthen Company’s AI Platform Positioning

According to official updates from AMD, Microsoft will expand its long-term collaboration with AMD, adopting AMD's Helios rack-scale AI solution in the Azure cloud platform to support large models, AI applications, and cloud computing services.

For AMD, the market has historically believed that Nvidia ( NVDA) holds an absolute dominant position in the AI chip market. Although AMD has an AI GPU roadmap including the MI300, MI350, and MI400, it still lags behind Nvidia in terms of actual hyperscale cloud provider deployments. Microsoft's expanded adoption of AMD Helios this time serves as an important endorsement of AMD's next-generation AI infrastructure solutions. AMD's stock price rose following the announcement, precisely because investors believe the partnership with Microsoft will help AMD gain further access to the AI infrastructure budgets of large tech clients.

Meanwhile, AMD's collaboration with Microsoft marks AMD's transition from a "chip supplier" to a "full-stack AI infrastructure provider." Helios is not a single GPU, but a combination of GPUs, CPUs, networking, software, and rack-scale systems. For cloud providers, AI infrastructure procurement increasingly prioritizes the performance, energy efficiency, network latency, and deployment efficiency of the entire system, rather than individual chip specifications. If AMD can prove Helios's performance and cost advantages in Azure, it will have the opportunity to expand its share among more cloud providers and enterprise AI customers in the future.

According to analysis by Jefferies, the addition of customers like Microsoft to AMD's latest chip ecosystem is a "major positive" for the stock price and can bolster market confidence in AMD's competitiveness in the high-end AI market. Additionally, with Microsoft joining, AMD Helios's early customer lineup already includes Meta ( META ), OpenAI, Oracle ( ORCL) and Microsoft, which enhances market recognition of AMD's AI platform capabilities.

For investors, as long as clients like Microsoft, Meta, OpenAI, and Oracle continue to expand their usage of AMD products, AMD's future data center revenue is expected to keep growing, and its stock price will gain new valuation support.

AMD weekly stock chart, Source: TradingView

Looking at the weekly chart of AMD's stock price, the short-term trend has remained above the SMA 5, presenting a strong upward trend. Although there was a pullback last week, it still stood firm near the SMA 10. This week, the stock stabilized and rebounded, logging a cumulative gain of 9.82%, which indicates that bullish market sentiment still retains the upper hand.

Currently, the stock price is expected to extend its overall upward trend in the short term, with the primary target testing the $600 level. If it breaks through this level, the upside potential toward the 0.618 Fibonacci extension level at $700 will open up.

On the downside, the immediate support below to watch is the $450-$460 range. If this level is breached, the stock price may correct further to $400, or even head downward to fill the previous gap in the $360-$410 range.
