On its third quarter of 2026 earnings call, held on Oct. 23, 2026, Eni (NYSE:E) announced an updated 2026 cash flow from operations target of 16.5 billion euros. Higher production volumes and strategic asset sales are driving cash generation across global operations. A record low gearing ratio of 9% provides additional balance sheet resilience. Three things management said stand out.
Eni's exploration and production (E&P) segment is building momentum across major hubs in Africa, the Americas, and Asia. Efficient execution in key locations is raising annual output targets.
Strong execution of our strategy has enabled us to raise our full-year underlying production guidance to 6-7%.
-- Francesco Gattei, Chief Transition and Financial Officer
Cash flow generation has driven net debt down to historic lows, giving Eni substantial flexibility. Management is converting this balance sheet strength into direct cash returns through higher buybacks and special dividends.
Today, we are raising our 2026 share buyback to EUR 3.8 billion from EUR 3.4 billion, 2.5x above the original guidance.
-- Francesco Gattei, Chief Transition and Financial Officer
Eni pairs distinct units like Plenitude, its retail and renewable energy arm, with outside equity investors to highlight hidden value. This structure allows the business to expand clean energy operations without straining core capital.
Our satellite strategy is a key tool to our success in building new transition businesses without sacrificing investment into E&P.
-- Francesco Gattei, Chief Transition and Financial Officer
Production and cash flow are surging, and management isn't hiding its satisfaction about the company's momentum. Eni relies on low discovery costs, broad geographical diversification, and disciplined capital allocation. Management is keeping a close eye on commodity price fluctuations, refining margins, and capital spending discipline.
In this quarter, Eni has shown once again that this strategy is working and delivering outstanding results.
-- Francesco Gattei, Chief Transition and Financial Officer
Looking toward future growth, management remains focused on using financial flexibility to drive long-term shareholder value while advancing both conventional and renewable energy platforms.
What is more important is that for us, the opportunity is to use at the best the financial potential that we have inside the company.
-- Francesco Gattei, Chief Transition and Financial Officer
