Subscription annual recurring revenue reached $1.104 billion in fiscal Q2.
SaaS annual recurring revenue rose 35% to $454 million.
Commvault added over 500 subscription customers in the second quarter.
On its second-quarter fiscal year 2027 earnings call, held on Oct. 27, 2026, Commvault (NASDAQ:CVLT) raised its full-year guidance after subscription annual recurring revenue, or ARR, grew 20% year over year to $1.104 billion. High software-as-a-service retention rates build predictable recurring revenue streams over multiyear contracts.
Three takeaways from the call stand out for long-term investors.
Adding enterprise accounts expands Commvault's customer base and creates opportunities for future contract expansion. Growing corporate focus on cyber resilience leads organizations to replace single-point backup tools with unified platforms.
In Q2, we added over 500 subscription customers, representing 17% growth year-on-year. Enterprises are prioritizing investments in cyber resilience and recovery.
-- Sanjay Mirchandani, President and Chief Executive Officer
Multiproduct adoption increases software-as-a-service, or SaaS, account value while reducing customer churn. Commvault uses a land-and-expand strategy to turn single-product clients into broader platform users.
As of Q2, 53% of Commvault managed SaaS customers are using two or more products, up from approximately 45% a year ago.
-- Gary Merrill, Chief Financial Officer
High-margin recurring income from subscription ARR improves cash flow predictability. Management expects cloud subscriptions to drive its overall business growth.
Subscription ARR will continue to be led by our SaaS offerings. Which we expect will exceed $500 million of ARR by the end of the fiscal year.
-- Gary Merrill, Chief Financial Officer
Demand for rapid cloud recovery is accelerating across hybrid enterprise systems, driving multi-cloud platform expansion. Broad integration across major cloud providers and high retention rates give Commvault a strong competitive moat as enterprise artificial intelligence deployments ramp up.
We believe that AI creates opportunities to expand our total addressable market as enterprises wrestle with more data, more identities and more Agentic activity.
-- Sanjay Mirchandani, President and Chief Executive Officer
Execution across cloud-native channels and sales team capacity remain strategic priorities as management targets higher cash generation.
Finally, we believe our relentless focus on execution will continue to deliver durable, profitable growth and strong free cash flow.
