Unity delivered $122 million in third-quarter net income.
Vector advertising revenue grew 126% year over year.
Daily active users increased 25% since early August.
On its third-quarter 2026 earnings call, held on Nov. 5, 2026, Unity (NYSE:U) announced its first quarter of profitability under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), or standard accounting rules, since going public. The software company converted growing demand for its game development engine into net income. Three things management said on the call stand out.
Ad targeting relies on Vector, Unity's artificial intelligence (AI) prediction engine that matches players with relevant titles. Higher targeted advertising precision helped customer return on advertising spend, driving ad campaign volume on the platform without raising fee rates.
Vector revenue grew 126% year-over-year and 40% quarter-over-quarter, which was double our guidance for 20% quarterly growth. Vector performance continues to be driven by 3 pillars: constant optimization of our self-learning AI models, new customer-centric product releases, and unique high-quality data.

The business reached profitability under GAAP through strict spending control. Management reduced sales and marketing expenses by $22 million sequentially by selling noncore assets, specifically its Supersonic mobile game publishing and development platform. This allows Unity to focus on its core game engine and AI-driven ad technology, and boosted operational leverage across cloud hosting infrastructure.
This is our first quarter of GAAP profitability since our IPO and a clear indication of the health and trajectory of our business. Beyond the clear financial milestone this represents, GAAP profitability unlocks significant potential advantages, including prospective eligibility for major equity indices, a broader institutional investor base, and long-term credit rating upside potential.
-- Jarrod Yahes, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Opening the game development engine to automated software tools lets developers generate code using third-party artificial intelligence models. Simplifying development workflows drove a 25% increase in daily active users since August, attracting new creators to the platform.
By opening Unity to coding agents and providing a command line interface, we've transformed our authoring platform into a fully programmable agentic automation target. We are completely model agnostic, enabling our customers to avoid vendor lock-in and constantly optimize their token spend. And this is exactly where we want to be, at the center of AI-driven game development.
-- Matt Bromberg, President and Chief Executive Officer
Strategic revenue growth accelerates as game creation feeds directly into ad placement through Vector. The company leverages engine integration across 25 platforms, runtime behavioral data, and asset store integration to build long-term value. Leadership focuses on ad inventory expansion, AI token cost discipline, and machine learning updates.
The Unity flywheel is just beginning to spin, and we expect the forces driving it to power our business well into the future. AI is making game creation more approachable and more efficient, leading to both more creators and more games being launched. More creators and more games drive more usage of our authoring and live operations platform.
-- Matt Bromberg, President and Chief Executive Officer
Expanding daily user activity positions the core engine to benefit from rising game volume.
Our team has believed that Unity possessed a generational opportunity and that we can become one of the most consequential companies of the AI era. Nearly 3 billion people play a Unity-powered game each month, and we are still just at the dawn of understanding how impactful our unique role in the content creation flywheel can be and where that opportunity will take us.
