On its third-quarter 2026 earnings call, held on Nov. 2, 2026, Match Group (NASDAQ:MTCH) announced that Tinder global daily active users returned to year-over-year growth in September for the first time in three and a half years. Stabilizing core user engagement signals that recent product changes are improving customer retention. Three things management said stand out.

1. Global Daily Active Users Inflect to Growth at Tinder

Management focused product development on improving recommendation quality and safety to drive monthly active users, or customers who log into the app at least once a month. Rebuilding user retention across core demographics narrowed monthly user declines and restored daily active user growth.

In September, global daily active users returned to year-over-year growth for the first time in three and a half years, and we have cut year-over-year declines in monthly active users nearly in half over the last year.
-- Spencer Rascoff, Chief Executive Officer

2. Lower-Priced Tiers Target Monetization Expansion at Hinge

Hinge generates nearly twice the revenue per payer, or average money collected from each paying subscriber, compared to Tinder. Introducing cheaper subscription options expands payer conversion among women and cost-conscious users without compromising overall app economics.

It's designed for women in particular, but also for price-sensitive users. Remember that Hinge is one of the highest priced products we have. The revenue per payer, for example, at Hinge is almost twice that of Tinder, around $30.
-- Steve Bailey, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

3. Rising In-App Purchase Fees Present Profitability Headwinds

European fee hikes by Apple and the upcoming expiration of a partnership with Alphabet-owned Google will raise in-app purchase (IAP) fees, which are platform commissions paid on digital store sales. Higher platform costs directly reduce Adjusted EBITDA margin, a key measure of operational cash profitability.

Taking into account both the Apple changes and the Google partnership agreement expiration, and making no assumptions on future fee changes, we expect IAP fees to result in a one-point headwind to Adjusted EBITDA margin in 2027.
-- Steve Bailey, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Looking Ahead

Full-year financial performance is exceeding internal operational efficiency targets. Match relies on disciplined headcount management, standardized marketing evaluation frameworks, and shared technology platforms across its portfolio to protect profit margins. Management is watching marketing efficiency and platform fee negotiations carefully.

We expect to finish the year slightly above the midpoint of our full-year revenue guidance range, and meaningfully exceed the full-year Adjusted EBITDA margin target we set back in February.
-- Steve Bailey, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Capital allocation priorities center on shareholder distributions alongside product innovation across Tinder and Hinge. Match generated $832 million in year-to-date free cash flow while returning capital through share buybacks and dividends.

We intend to take that same approach in 2027 as we balance making the right investments in our business to maximize long-term shareholder value with delivering near-term Adjusted EBITDA and free cash flow, which we are giving back to shareholders through buybacks and the dividend.
-- Steve Bailey, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
