Tesla Stock Forecast: TSLA Triangle Breakout Targets $411.90 as Cybercabs Overtake Model Ys

Source Tradingkey

TradingKey - Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) rose 4.04% to $407.46 on Tuesday, October 27, after a 5.21% gain on Monday, and premarket quotes sit higher near $410.79. The two-day rally of about 9.5%, from $372.22 on October 23, lifted the stock to its highest close in about three months.

Tesla is the best performer among the Magnificent Seven tech stocks in October, up about 15% for the month. It is still down about 9% this year and about 18% below its 52-week high of $498.83.

Barclays Bets on a SpaceX Deal

Monday's jump followed a Barclays upgrade to Overweight from Equal Weight, with the target raised to $450 from $370. Analyst Dan Levy has argued that a Tesla and SpaceX combination is increasingly expected and that Tesla holders would likely get a premium. Both companies have formed independent committees to explore a deal, but no terms have been agreed.

Cybercabs Now Outnumber Model Ys in Texas

Tuesday's gain came as Texas DMV records showed 1,051 vehicles authorized for Tesla's robotaxi fleet, including 544 Cybercabs and 507 Model Ys. That is the first time the purpose-built Cybercab, which has no steering wheel, makes up the majority, up from about 319 Cybercabs and 420 Model Ys in early October. The data counts authorized vehicles, not cars giving rides.

On the third-quarter call, Tesla said cumulative unsupervised robotaxi miles rose eightfold in the quarter to nearly 2 million. It plans to add Cybercabs in Dallas next month and aims to deliver Cybercabs to fleet customers by the end of 2026. Musk said robotaxi revenue should become noticeable from the second quarter of 2027.

The Capex Cut Helped Cash Flow

Tesla cut its 2026 capex guide, the money it plans to spend on factories, equipment and computing, to about $20 billion from more than $25 billion. Third-quarter capex of $4.73 billion came in well below the roughly $8 billion analysts expected, which helped produce $1.53 billion of free cash flow, the cash left after operating costs and capital spending, when analysts had expected a $4.92 billion burn.

Part of the Cash Beat Was Timing

Working capital added $2.59 billion to third-quarter operating cash flow of $6.26 billion, including a $3.99 billion rise in payables and accrued liabilities, money owed to suppliers but not yet paid. Without working capital, free cash flow would have been about negative $1.06 billion. The new guide also implies about $7 billion of capex in the fourth quarter, after $13.01 billion through September, and Musk said capex will start to become more meaningful next year.

Profits Do Not Explain the Price

Operating income fell 56% to $718 million in the third quarter, a 2.6% margin, even as deliveries of 486,532 beat estimates. Tesla trades at about 15 times sales, against about 3 times for the S&P 500, and the average analyst target of about $411 sits close to the current price. The rally is pricing robotaxi growth and a possible SpaceX premium, not today's car profits.

Tesla Technical Analysis: 4-Hour Close Above $411.90 Could Open $431.93

That change in mood shows clearly on the 4-hour chart. TSLA has broken out of the large triangle that had trapped price since July, a pattern where highs and lows narrow until price breaks out one way. It cleared $388.85 with strong candles and now trades well above both moving averages, which track the average price over a set period, so buyers are in control.

RSI, a momentum gauge that runs from 0 to 100, has climbed to about 68, close to the 70 overbought line, so a short pause would not be surprising.

The next hurdle is $411.90, just above the premarket quote. A 4-hour close above it could open the way to $431.93, followed by $448.24, near Barclays' $450 target. On the downside, $388.85 is now key support, and a close back below it would weaken the breakout and expose $374.43, where the nearer moving average sits.

I'm bullish while TSLA holds above $388.85, with targets at $411.90 and $431.93.

Key Levels

  • Last close: $407.46, up 4.04% on October 27
  • Support: $388.85, $374.43, $369.72
  • Resistance: $411.90, $431.93, $448.24
  • RSI: 67.99, near overbought
  • Bullish trigger: 4-hour close above $411.90
  • Bearish trigger: 4-hour close below $388.85

FAQs

Why is Tesla stock rising?

Tesla gained about 9.5% in two sessions after Barclays upgraded it to Overweight with a $450 target on hopes of a SpaceX combination, and Texas DMV data showed Cybercabs now make up most of its authorized robotaxi fleet.

What is the Tesla stock forecast now?

The bias is bullish above $388.85 on the 4-hour chart. A 4-hour close above $411.90 targets $431.93 and $448.24, while a close below $388.85 would weaken the breakout and expose $374.43.

Bottom Line

Tesla's rally rests on robotaxi progress and merger hopes rather than profits, and part of its third-quarter cash beat came from timing. The level that matters is $388.85, the breakout level. In my view, holding it keeps the breakout on track toward $431.93, while a 4-hour close back below it would turn the move into a false break.
