Legacy market loans grew at an annualized rate of nearly 12%.
Quarterly loan production totaled $379 million.
Equity Bancshares agreed to acquire Lincoln Bancorp.
On its third quarter of 2026 earnings call, held on Oct. 15, 2026, Equity Bancshares (NYSE:EQBK) highlighted a return to organic loan growth and record production across its banking network. A regional bank's ability to expand loans organically rather than through acquisitions protects profit margins while generating compounding returns on core deposits, which are lower-cost funds provided by account holders. Sustained balance sheet expansion signals that operational investments are delivering real pricing power and customer retention. Three things management said stand out.
Legacy markets generated loan growth at an annualized rate of nearly 12%, driving total loan balances higher for the first time since the recent bank acquisitions closed. Reaching record loan production shows that customer relationship teams can attract borrowers without sacrificing underwriting discipline.
The story of the quarter is organic loan growth. This improvement is something that we have focused on for the last several years.
-- Brad Elliott, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
The pending purchase of Lincoln Bancorp adds 16 locations in Iowa and expands the bank's footprint into the Des Moines market. Management expects the combination to add core deposits while creating future opportunities for bolt-on acquisitions, which are small targeted bank purchases within existing territories.
Lincoln brings exceptional banking talent, deep relationships and strong communities to the consolidated franchise. Under the continued leadership of their commercial and retail teams, we are excited for what this strategic combination will contribute to our growing company.

Investing in digital account tools and process automation helps the bank handle higher loan volumes without expanding overhead expenses at the same rate. Improving operating leverage, which means growing revenue faster than operating expenses, protects net income when deposit funding costs increase across the industry.
Remaining focused on technology initiatives, finding ways to automate processes, enhancing lead generation, and expanding the services our customers rely on provides opportunity to add operating leverage and enhance shareholder returns as the balance sheet grows.
-- Brad Elliott, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Loan production and market expansion are driving momentum across Midwest metro markets. Management is watching deposit pricing discipline while keeping operating expenses flat.
Our expectation is that these initiatives over time allow us to grow the balance sheet without growing the expense rate at the same clip.
-- Chris Navratil, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
With total assets reaching $9.1 billion post-merger, disciplined execution underpins long-term profit targets.
Year-to-date core earnings per share are at $4.14, which puts us in a position to surpass our $5 target for 2026.
