What this transaction means for investors

Wong surrendered 38,113 shares to withholding on vested RSUs and still holds more than a million directly, which is certainly a large enough stake to help ensure she remains aligned with Reddit’s long-term performance. As for the firm’s performance, advertising brought in $762 million last quarter, up 64%, with active advertisers growing more than 70% and the mid-market and SMB channel doubling, and Wong on the earnings call late last month said the strategy is "making every impression more valuable."

U.S. revenue reached $638 million, roughly four-fifths of the company’s total, despite an American daily audience that shrank sequentially. Growth is already stepping down, from 69% in the first quarter to 61% in the second, with the third-quarter guide implying about 48%. Investors sent the stock down 21% the day after that print despite a beat on revenue, profit, and guidance, which tells you the ad numbers alone are no longer buying much patience. Reddit has to pull more revenue out of each American user every quarter now, and it’s unclear for now whether can get easier.
