Ether ETFs Face Another $99.9M Outflow as Demand Stays Uneven

Source Newsbtc

TL;DR: US spot Ether ETFs posted a $99.9 million net outflow on November 5, Farside data show, following an $85.3 million outflow on November 3 and a temporary recovery on November 4. The pattern highlights a fragile demand picture, but cannot establish a direct forecast for ETH’s price.

Ether’s exchange-traded fund market is still searching for consistency. The latest fully reported daily figures in Farside Investors’ Ether ETF table show a $99.9 million net withdrawal on Thursday, November 5, just a day after the same group recorded a $53 million inflow. The reversal demonstrates why single-session data need context.

November 6’s table still contained unreported fields when reviewed, so it would be misleading to present the partial figure as a final market-wide total. A dated, complete session offers a better basis for an editorial assessment.

A brief rebound gave way to renewed redemptions

On November 5, BlackRock’s ETHA recorded a $75.2 million outflow and the firm’s ETHB line showed a further $22 million leaving. Fidelity’s FETH was down $2.2 million, while Grayscale’s ETHE showed a modest $500,000 withdrawal. Those figures add up to the $99.9 million negative session.

The previous day looked different. On November 4, the listed products collectively brought in $53 million, with positive flows in several funds offsetting negative readings elsewhere. Before that, November 2 and 3 brought losses of $139.7 million and $85.3 million respectively. The emerging picture is not a perfectly uninterrupted exodus. It is a market in which intermittent buying has yet to overcome repeated bouts of selling.

Our earlier report on November 2’s Ether ETF withdrawals provides a useful baseline. The subsequent sessions show that the pressure has persisted but has also varied substantially between days and issuers.

What ETF activity does and does not reveal

An ETF’s reported flow measures changes in the investment wrapper, not all Ethereum transactions. Institutions can obtain ETH exposure through spot holdings, derivatives, treasury companies and other vehicles. A negative day in the US listed fund category does not prove every sophisticated investor has turned bearish.

This is especially important for Ethereum because a significant share of the network’s economic activity occurs independently of an ETF. Stablecoin transfers, decentralised exchanges, tokenised assets and staking continue to operate whatever happens to a particular fund’s share count. The long-term investment case for ETH is often tied to that activity, but there is no automatic formula linking application usage to the token’s short-term price.

Concentration adds another layer. If one manager dominates the day’s net withdrawals, the aggregate should not be described as a consensus of all issuers. Analysts also need to separate price moves from flows: the dollar value of assets in a fund can fall because of market prices even when investors have not redeemed an equivalent amount of shares.

Two separate stories to follow

The first is whether ETF investors return in size and for more than a single session. The second is what happens in Ethereum’s development roadmap. The Ethereum Foundation announced a Glamsterdam testing delay on November 6, citing concerns about how proposed gas changes could affect existing applications. That is an engineering issue, not proof of a market-flow response, and it should be covered on its own terms.

For traders and longer-term holders, the practical takeaway is to compare several fully reported sessions, assess which issuers are driving the moves and resist treating flows as a stand-alone trading signal. Thursday’s number is meaningful evidence of weaker demand through US funds; it is not a reliable prediction of ETH’s next move.
