3 AI Stocks That Could Split in 2027

Key Points

  • Nvidia and Broadcom both split their shares in 2024 after big AI-driven rallies.

  • SanDisk, GE Vernova, and AMD now trade at share prices between about $530 and $1,300.

  • A split doesn't change a company's value, so the underlying business is what matters most

  • 10 stocks we like better than Sandisk ›

In 2024, Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) and Broadcom (NASDAQ:AVGO) both completed stock splits after their share prices skyrocketed on AI demand. Since that time, several other AI-related stocks have soared to prices that make them logical candidates for stock splits of their own, and here are three that I wouldn't be surprised to see before the end of 2027.

Before I get to the stocks, it's important to discuss what a split is and what it isn't. A stock split does not change the value of a company. If a $1,000 stock splits 10-for-1, you'll end up with 10 times as many shares, worth $100 each, and the overall value of your investment doesn't change. But a split can make shares (and stock options) more accessible to employees and retail investors, so there are some good reasons why management teams use them.

Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »

With that in mind, here are thre three AI stocks that I believe could be top stock split candidates in 2027.

1. SanDisk

Memory stocks have been among the best performers in the market recently, and even after pulling back from its 52-week high, Sandisk (NASDAQ:SNDK) trades at nearly $1,400 per share. In short, AI data centers require enormous amounts of storage, which has created high demand for Sandisk's flash memory products.

Sandiskhas been an independent company since 2025, when it began trading at under $40 per share. And even after its massive run, Sandisk trades for only about 6.4 times forward earnings, so it wouldn't be a shock for management to split the stock with confidence that it will continue to go higher.

2. GE Vernova

GE Vernova (NYSE:GEV) trades at about $900 per share and has certainly come a long way since its 2024 spin-off from General Electric (NYSE:GE), now known as GE Aerospace. Shares started trading below $140 in April 2024, and AI tailwinds have resulted in multi-bagger returns.

If you aren't familiar, GE Vernova makes gas turbines and other equipment that power plants need, and thanks to AI demand, it has a multi-year backlog. While a stock split isn't a certainty, it could certainly make sense, especially with several additional major tailwinds, such as small modular nuclear reactors.

3. Advanced Micro Devices

Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD) was a sub-$100 stock in early 2025, but has since more than quintupled to about $540 per share as of this writing. AMD is emerging as a serious competitive threat to Nvidia, with data center sales more than doubling year over year in the most recent quarter.

AMD hasn't split its shares since 2000, but it also hasn't been a $500+ stock before. Nvidia split its stock when AI-related tailwinds caused a massive spike in its stock price, and it wouldn't be out of the question for AMD to do the same.

Should you buy these stock split candidates?

It's generally not a great idea to buy a certain stock just because you think it could split. A stock split could certainly be a nice bonus if you already own shares (the average stock outperforms the S&P 500 in the year following a split announcement), but it shouldn't be the reason you invest.

Also, keep the risk factors in mind. Sandisk's earnings are tied to the historically volatile memory cycle, and both GE Vernova and AMD trade for more than 40 times forward earnings, so both have lots of growth priced in. All three are interesting AI infrastructure businesses that could deserve a place in your portfolio, but be sure to focus on the business and valuation when deciding, not just the possibility of future stock splits.
