S&P Global initiated a strategic review of the Capital IQ and Kensho platforms.
Full-year share repurchases are on track to exceed $7 billion.
S&P Dow Jones Indices extended its exclusive CBOE agreement through 2051.
On its third-quarter 2026 earnings call, held on Oct. 27, 2026, S&P Global (NYSE:SPGI) announced a strategic review of its Capital IQ business alongside raised full-year profit guidance. Streamlining operations allows the company to focus capital on high-margin credit ratings and market index benchmarks that generate durable recurring cash flows. Three things management said stand out.
Management initiated a strategic review of Capital IQ, its desktop financial intelligence platform, and associated data businesses such as Kensho, its artificial intelligence data engine, to concentrate capital on core benchmark franchises.
At the same time, a more focused S&P Global would allow us to prioritize investment and reinforce our strengths in the markets where we have the strongest position, and are best enabled to create value.
-- Martina L. Cheung, President and Chief Executive Officer
Customers using artificial intelligence (AI) data tools are expanding their annual contract value at up to 1.8 times the rate of non-AI clients, allowing S&P Global to command higher pricing while securing intellectual property (IP) rights.
Negotiations with customers on AI rights are normalizing, and we are signing deals with robust pricing, that protect our IP.
-- Martina L. Cheung, President and Chief Executive Officer
S&P Dow Jones Indices (SPDJI), the company's index division, extended its exclusive licensing agreement with CBOE Global Markets (Chicago Board Options Exchange) through 2051 for S&P 500 index options, securing long-term royalty streams.
This extension does a couple of things. As Martina and Eric talked about, this really accelerates the economics into SPDJI by 6 years. And it also gives us a nice incremental tailwind of growth in the years following 2027.
-- Kathy Clay, CEO of S&P Dow Jones Indices
Debt issuance across credit markets and equity trading volumes remain elevated, driven by capital investments in infrastructure and technology.
Our expected go forward portfolio benefits from durable secular tailwinds and attractive incremental margins. This allows us to invest while delivering consistent margin expansion over time.
-- Martina L. Cheung, President and Chief Executive Officer
Management is prioritizing core benchmark positioning and capital allocation discipline, and expects fee expansion from high-growth adjacencies such as private credit and prediction markets.
We expect that when and if this process is completed, S&P Global will be a focused and synergistic organization of high growth businesses positioned for strong growth in organic revenue, profits, and EPS.
-- Martina L. Cheung, President and Chief Executive Officer
