Strive funded a 1,110-bitcoin buy with share sales and still ended the week with more cash

Strive added $17.1 million to its cash reserves in the same week it spent about $81.5 million buying 1,110 bitcoin, according to a filing published Monday.

The gap implies the Dallas asset manager is bringing in money through stock sales faster than it’s spending on crypto.

How cash climbed while $81.5 million went out the door

As of August 21, Strive had $171.9 million in cash and cash equivalents, up from $154.8 million a week earlier, according to its 8-K filing with the SEC. During the same period, it bought bitcoin at an average of about $73,409 per coin.

It took new stock to pay for that stack and still end the week with more cash. Strive funded the purchase with at-the-market offerings of its common shares and its preferred shares, ASST, and SATA.

Class A shares outstanding increased by more than 3.6 million to 79,890,888, and the SATA count rose by 441,313.

The company continued to hold 505,000 shares of Strategy’s STRC preferred stock. The fair value of that position increased to $48.6 million.

Strive purchased 147 bitcoin between August 3 and 7 at about $64,800 each, then another 79 coins the next week at $63,231 each.

The haul of last week was about five times as large as the two rounds combined, and at a much higher price.

Bitcoin rose almost 25% last week and closed Friday at $77,387 before trading close to $80,000 on Monday.

Strive’s shares of ASST closed Friday at $18.22, up about 13%, and traded more than 7% higher on Monday after the filing landed.

The acquisition of 1,110 coins increased total holdings to 21,356 BTC, up 5.5% from the 20,246 it posted in mid-August.

Where Strive sits among corporate holders

Strive is the seventh-largest public company in bitcoin holdings.

Michael Saylor’s Strategy heads the list with 840,447 BTC, with Twenty One Capital at 43,514, Metaplanet at 43,000, MARA at 35,577, and Bitcoin Standard Treasury Company at 30,021.

Strategy said it sold about $2 billion of its shares between August 17 and 23 without selling any of its bitcoin.

Strive rebranded in 2025 as the first publicly traded asset-management bitcoin treasury company and completed an all-stock acquisition of Semler Scientific in January 2026.

On August 10, Strive reported a net loss of $257.6 million, almost entirely caused by the falling fair value of its bitcoin, meaning its last quarter was ugly on paper, as Cryptopolitan reported.

CEO Matt Cole said on Sunday he has “very strong” conviction that bitcoin’s bear market is over, citing the asset’s breakout against both the US dollar and gold.

Cole said that bitcoin bottomed against gold in February, about five months before bottoming against the dollar in July, and maintains that the bitcoin-to-gold ratio has been a reliable indicator of relative performance.

As Cryptopolitan has reported, his firm has remained on the offense throughout the downturn, even adding coins during earlier rounds when it was buying in the low-$60,000 range.
