On its third quarter of 2026 earnings call, held on Oct. 30, 2026, Church & Dwight (NYSE:CHD) reported 5.1% organic sales growth, driven primarily by higher product volume. Its value-focused household staples and expanding personal care portfolio give it dependable pricing power in a choppy consumer market. Internal efficiency gains continue to widen margins even as cost inflation presses the broader industry. Three things management said stand out.

1. Record Productivity Shields Margins From Rising Costs

Church & Dwight faces $150 million in cost inflation this year, but internal efficiency gains keep profit margins expanding. Operating productivity provides the business with a robust buffer against rising transportation and commodity costs.

We are, first and foremost, going after productivity. And you just heard me say we had record productivity this year. We think we're going to have record productivity next year.
-- Rick Dierker, President and Chief Executive Officer

2. Category Innovation Expands Market Share in Personal Care

High-margin personal care brands are expanding market share through product innovation and targeted distribution gains. Low household penetration rates in core specialty lines leave substantial room for long-term revenue growth.

THERABREATH continues to contribute considerably to our overall performance as the brand gained 3.5 share points to reach a record share level of 26.8%, which further solidified our #2 position in total mouthwash.
-- Rick Dierker, President and Chief Executive Officer

3. Value Tier Laundry Brands Win Stretched Consumers

Cash-strapped shoppers are leaning heavily into value-oriented household staples as inflation limits household budgets. The company's core laundry line continues gaining retail market share despite elevated promotional activity across the category.

However, ARM & HAMMER gained share as the value segment in laundry continues to be fit for purpose in this economic environment.
-- Rick Dierker, President and Chief Executive Officer

Looking Ahead

Volume-driven momentum across core divisions keeps performance well ahead of industry averages, even as transportation rates and raw material prices climb. The business relies on structural pricing discipline, supply chain efficiency, and international distribution wins to sustain its earnings trajectory.

Against the backdrop of ongoing industry headwinds and uncertainty, our team has delivered 3 quarters of 5% plus profitable organic growth.
-- Lee McChesney, Chief Financial Officer

Management focuses capital allocation on expanding high-margin brands and reinvesting in international channels to drive long-term compound growth.

Our operating fundamentals continue to support volume growth, market share gains and gross margin expansion.
-- Rick Dierker, President and Chief Executive Officer
