Operating diluted earnings per share grew 16.5% year over year.
Operating noninterest revenues reached 38% of total operating revenues.
Management projects full-year 2026 loan growth of 5% to 5.5%.
On its third-quarter 2026 earnings call, held on Oct. 27, 2026, Community Financial (NYSE:CBU) announced that operating diluted earnings per share increased 16.5% year over year. Noninterest revenue diversification and active balance sheet restructuring shelter earnings from loan demand volatility. That stability lets the bank expand its regional footprint without taking on excessive debt.
Three things management said stand out.
Operating noninterest revenues, which are earnings generated from fee-based services like wealth management, employee benefits, and insurance rather than loan interest, keep top-line results steady when interest rates fluctuate. The acquisition of ClearPoint trust services added $2.1 million in fee revenue during the third quarter, helping noninterest streams expand to a significant portion of overall operating income.
Operating noninterest revenues represented 38% of total operating revenues during the third quarter a metric that continuously emphasizes the diversification of our businesses

Management actively reshaped Community Financial's balance sheet by selling $296.8 million of lower-yielding U.S. treasury securities to pay off pricier short-term debt. This maneuver widened net interest margin (the difference between interest earned on assets and interest paid on deposits) while reducing overall funding costs.
The increases in income and net interest margin included the accretive impact of the paydown of higher cost overnight borrowings using proceeds from the August 3rd sale of $296.8 million of lower yielding US treasury securities.

Higher interest rates are dampening consumer auto and mortgage borrowing across the industry, but commercial deal flow stays steady for Community Financial. Commercial lending pipelines are hovering near historic highs, providing replacement loan volume as larger commercial loans pay off in the fourth quarter.
The pipeline is strong. It is pretty comparable to where it was last quarter, which means that it is close to its high marks. Activity is solid.

Record net interest income and expanding fee revenues drive earnings momentum, reflecting broad execution across regional markets.
Looking forward, we believe the company's diversified revenue profile, strong liquidity, and historically good asset quality provide a solid foundation for continued earnings growth.

A sticky operating deposit base, regional market scale, and disciplined de novo (newly built) branch expansion bolster future enterprise value. Management is tracking commercial payoff timing, deposit pricing discipline, and local market share expansion across its footprint.
I am just encouraged by the execution across the footprint. And I am also encouraged by the ability for us to have a very large funnel of things that we are working on and seeing.
