CrowdStrike (NASDAQ: CRWD) stock has climbed about 83% over the past year as of Nov. 2, 2026, and that's after a recent 10% slip from its October high. Whether it's too late to buy may come down to one number: how fast it adds new subscription revenue.

This was the year cybersecurity became a must-have for companies adopting artificial intelligence (AI). CrowdStrike's Falcon platform protects devices and cloud systems, and its advantage lies in its data. It analyzes about 7 trillion security events a day, a "data moat," as CEO George Kurtz calls it, that trains its AI.

Missed AI’s "Act 1"? Act 2 Could Be 15x Bigger. Most investors think they missed the AI boat because they didn't buy Nvidia in 2005. But according to our analysts, we’re only at the end of "Act 1"—the R&D phase. "Act 2" is the global rollout. Continue »

"The world's adoption of AI is rapidly expanding the attack surface," Kurtz said. Net new annual recurring revenue (ARR), the yearly subscription value CrowdStrike added in the latest quarter, hit a record $333 million, up 51% -- a meaningful acceleration over the 32% growth reported in the previous quarter.

CrowdStrike now expects to reach $10 billion in ARR by fiscal 2030 (ending January 2030). From the roughly $6.6 billion expected by the end of this fiscal year, that implies about 15% annualized growth.

Competition is one risk, with Microsoft its biggest rival. But in the near term, the bigger risk for investors is valuation. The stock trades at about 198 times forward earnings estimates, the cash left after investing in the business, while analysts expect long-term earnings growth of roughly 29% a year.

That makes net new ARR the one thing to watch. It drives future cash flow, and at this price, investors need it to not only rise but accelerate. If AI demand drives a sharp acceleration in net new ARR, the valuation could prove justified; otherwise, the share price may be hard to support. The next check is the quarterly report expected around the end of November.
