Data center segment sales increased 95% from the prior year.
Quarterly order intake reached $1 billion for the first time.
Full-year revenue outlook increased to $3.1 billion to $3.2 billion.
On its second-quarter fiscal 2027 earnings call, held on Nov. 4, 2026, Modine (NYSE:MOD) announced quarterly order intake exceeding $1 billion. The business is concentrating its capital on data center thermal management. Securing long-term customer programs provides clear multiyear revenue visibility. Three things management said stand out.
Surging artificial intelligence workloads are forcing hyperscale data center operators to lock in cooling equipment years in advance. Management added manufacturing lines to support custom air handling units and chillers, which cool data center servers.
We achieved our fourth consecutive quarter of record orders, exceeding $1 billion in quarterly order intake for the first time in our history.
-- Neil Brinker, President and Chief Executive Officer
Rapid production expansion created short-term supply bottlenecks and raised component prices across aluminum, copper, and steel. Management is implementing price increases and long-term agreements (LTAs), which are multi-year contracts with suppliers and customers, to recover these costs and protect profit margins.
Secondly, we are going to recover material costs, and we have contracts in place. We already have commercial negotiations. So, that recovery of material costs is going to improve our material margin.
-- Mick Lucareli, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Management completed the spin-off of its Performance Technologies segment, which manufactured traditional vehicle cooling components, and merged it with Gentherm. This corporate restructuring leaves the company focused on higher-margin industrial thermal systems.
For Modine, this milestone represents a clean strategic separation that allows us to focus 100% of our resources on our highest growth, highest margin thermal management opportunities.
-- Neil Brinker, President and Chief Executive Officer
Order backlogs extend beyond two years, and data center revenue is accelerating sharply. Proprietary technology, vertical integration in specialized cooling coils, and strategic supplier contracts support future profit growth as management manages component pricing discipline.
We remain excited about the overall positive momentum in this segment and anticipate further margin improvements through the second half of the year.
-- Mick Lucareli, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Operational execution hinges on ramping up 20 operational chiller lines by fiscal year-end while applying strict customer selection criteria.
Demand continues to be incredibly strong across our entire data center cooling portfolio, and we are strategically using 80/20 principles to manage this growth.
-- Neil Brinker, President and Chief Executive Officer
