On its third quarter of 2026 earnings call, held on Oct. 28, 2026, Teladoc (NYSE:TDOC) detailed its strategic pivot toward in-network insurance coverage across its virtual care segments. For long-term investors, this transition away from cash-pay marketing aims to build predictable revenue and lower customer acquisition costs. Three takeaways from the call stand out.

1. BetterHelp Expands Insurance Network to Drive Sustainable Growth

Management is actively shifting BetterHelp from a direct-to-consumer cash model toward an in-network insurance structure. That pivot lowers customer acquisition spending and helps stabilize user retention over time.

Growing in-network access remains our top priority in this segment, and we believe the initiatives we are advancing will support continued growth of the insurance business. And over time, BetterHelp's ability to offer consumers a choice of both insurance and cash pay in the U.S., together with the longer term potential we see in non-U.S. markets, will support our commitment to improving the durability of the business.
-- Charles Divita, Chief Executive Officer

2. Teladoc 1 Integrates Care Models to Serve Broader Patient Needs

Unveiled in July for market availability in 2027, Teladoc 1 consolidates condition-specific offerings into a unified care model. Management expects this broad platform approach to improve member outcomes and secure longer client contracts.

We are encouraged by the level of client engagement and member feedback on Teladoc 1 at this point, reinforcing our view that clients are looking for solutions that deliver a more connected experience, address more care needs, and demonstrate greater accountability for outcomes and impact.
-- Charles Divita, Chief Executive Officer

3. Two-Phase Refinancing Plan Targets June 2027 Convertible Notes

To reduce balance sheet risk, executives outlined a strategy to manage $1 billion in convertible notes maturing in June 2027. The company plans to use existing cash reserves and new debt financing to lower overall debt loads.

The first phase would potentially involve repurchasing a substantial portion of the outstanding notes using a combination of available cash and proceeds from more traditional debt financing, potentially before year end. We would then expect to repay the remaining balance with cash at maturity in June 2027.
-- Mike Grasher, Chief Financial Officer

Looking Ahead

Client contract bookings are progressing as expected, and leadership isn't hiding its satisfaction with operational stability. Expanding in-network insurance access, growing self-service capabilities, and deepening multidisciplinary care models offer structural advantages for future value creation. Strategic focus remains fixed on contract retention and pricing discipline.

With respect to insurance, as we continue to execute on increasing provider capacity, improving therapist engagement, and growing utilization of BetterHelp services, we expect continued growth in 2027. We will look to build on the insurance momentum we are currently seeing.
-- Mike Grasher, Chief Financial Officer

Sustaining long-term differentiation in virtual healthcare requires navigating industry adjustments, and executive leadership remains committed to driving sustainable performance.

Our organizational focus and strategic priorities are aimed at driving performance, and advancing our position, impact, and differentiation within a broader healthcare industry that faces ongoing challenges, and to play a constructive and increasing role in addressing them.
-- Charles Divita, Chief Executive Officer
