Nano Nuclear Is Still Under $20. Here's My Case for Why That Won't Last.

Key Points

  • Nano Nuclear's stock has fallen more than 40% in the past 12 months and is trading near its 52-week low.

  • The acquisition of Secured Transportation Systems gives NANO deeper fuel-cycle capabilities and revenue.

It's been a rough year for Nano Nuclear Energy's (NASDAQ: NNE) stock. In the past 12 months, shares of the nuclear energy company have stumbled more than 40% and are now trading around $20. This pullback feels overdone, though, and I don't believe Nano Nuclear will remain at, or below, $20 for much longer.

First and foremost, while the company is still pre-revenue, it has enough cash in the bank to give itself a substantial runway. As of its 2026 fiscal third-quarter, Nano reported $580 million in cash and short-term securities.

Secondly, progress is being made on the regulatory side. A formal construction permit was submitted to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) by the University of Illinois to deploy Nano's Kronos microreactor on the campus. Nano also has memorandums of understanding with various partners in AI, energy, and manufacturing.

Lastly, Nano recently acquired Secured Transportation Systems (STS) to strengthen its fuel-cycle capabilities. The purchase of STS gives Nano some immediate revenue and a more vertically integrated business.

Analysts have an average price target of $42 for the stock, which is well above its current price. The cash cushion and progress on the regulatory front should reassure investors that Nano will be an active participant in the AI and data center boom, even though real revenue is likely still years away.

Fortunately, the demand for nuclear isn't going anywhere, so buying the stock now and holding could potentially have tremendous upside if Nano can fully execute in the second half of this decade.
