Hogwarts Legacy 2 is currently in production phase at Warner Bros. Games. The sequel to the best-selling game of 2023 is currently a  “very big priority” for the studios.

According to Variety’s report, Warner Bros. Games is working on the sequel of Hogwarts Legacy which was released in 2023 and ended up as the top-selling game selling 30 million copies until October 2024.

A couple of months back, the President for Interactive Entertainment at Warner Bros. Games, David Haddad had mentioned that the sequel will also “let fans be a part of this world and stories and characters in deeper and deeper ways” at the Bank of America’s 2024 Media.

At that time the Warner Bros. CFO also shared that “one of the company’s biggest priorities in a couple of years down the road.” Although there were no updates the game is in process until now.

Haddad shared that the success of the original part has added a lot of confidence in the company that it is the right time for the Harry Potter push.  Furthermore, “fans are looking for more things in this world” so the company is putting in a lot of time working on these ideas.

According to the company’s insights, Haddad said that there was not much difference in the fans, either older or younger as “they’re just deep ‘Harry Potter’ fans”. Therefore there is so much preference to build the experiences with maximum authenticity.

Hogwarts Legacy 2 will be in coordination with HBO “Harry Potter” Series

Haddad said that big-picture story elements of the sequel are what the fans will also see in the “Harry Potter” HBO series coming in the future. This means the sequel and the series are both closely coordinated.

JK Rowling, the mega-mind behind Harry Potter, is not managing the Hogwarts Legacy franchise. However, the executives at Warner Bros. Discovery update her through her literary agent to keep her in the loop.

Rober Oberschelp, the head of global consumer products at WBD said “If we’re going to ever go beyond a canon conversation, we make sure that we’re all comfortable with what we’re doing.”

Due to the strong response to Hogwarts Legacy by the players, the studios have released a couple of more titles in the gaming world based on HP. In August “Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions” was released along with the remastered version of the “Lego Harry Potter” games collection.

Warner Bros. has also provided licenses to several mobile games to be created based on the Wizarding World.
