Intel's second-quarter server CPU sales volume grew 9% year-over-year, while average selling prices jumped 48% year-over-year. The company stated that demand for server CPUs currently exceeds supply capacity, and expects the server CPU industry to achieve strong double-digit unit growth in 2026 and 2027, with momentum extending into 2028.

High-NA EUV Enters Mass Production Applications

On September 8, Intel and ASML (ASML) announced the latest progress in High-NA EUV high-volume manufacturing. Both companies stated that High-NA EUV is currently used in Intel's high-volume manufacturing.

Intel is one of the earliest chipmakers to adopt High-NA EUV. In 2024, Intel and ASML completed the integration of the industry's first commercial High-NA EUV lithography system at its Oregon R&D facility. Since then, Intel has continued to advance equipment qualification, testing, and process R&D, incorporating High-NA EUV into actual product manufacturing.

Intel stated that, to date, High-NA EUV has processed over 1 million wafers in cumulative total, including early equipment qualification and testing, R&D, and high-volume manufacturing of specific layers for certain Core Ultra Series 3 (codenamed Panther Lake) processors.

Currently, High-NA EUV is being used in high-volume manufacturing for specific Intel 18A process layers in certain Panther Lake processors. Intel stated that the relevant 18A layers manufactured using High-NA EUV achieved performance matching or exceeding comparable layers produced using the 0.33 NA NXE EUV platform. Intel also noted that the overlay accuracy, throughput, and availability of current High-NA equipment meet the company's expectations.

High-NA EUV increases the numerical aperture from 0.33 on existing EUV platforms to 0.55, enabling higher lithographic resolution. ASML stated that the EXE High-NA platform can reduce certain process steps in advanced chip high-volume manufacturing, thereby lowering defects, costs, and cycle times.

ASML CEO Christophe Fouquet stated that Intel is one of the main companies driving the industry adoption of High-NA. From installing the first commercial EXE system in 2024, to completing qualification for the latest generation of equipment, and shipping the first high-volume logic product manufactured with High-NA, Intel has taken the lead in applying High-NA EUV to high-volume logic chip manufacturing.

Trump Posts Another Intel-Related AI Image

U.S. President Trump posted an AI-generated image on Truth Social on September 6, in which a trading screen displayed "BOUGHT: INTEL $20" and "NOW $95."

Trump also claimed that he earned "hundreds of billions of dollars" for the United States through holdings in stocks and other types of assets, rather than for his personal gain, but provided no specific basis to support this figure.

Currently, demand for Intel server CPUs remains higher than available supply; meanwhile, High-NA EUV has already been used in the mass production of specific Intel 18A process layers for select Core Ultra Series 3 (codenamed Panther Lake) processors.

Going forward, whether server CPU supply improves and whether 18A and High-NA EUV can see further expanded adoption will be key aspects for observing Intel's product supply and advanced manufacturing progress.
