The Nikkei 225 Index rose 2.07%, climbing above 66,000 to trade at 66,366.55 points. Both major heavyweight stocks advanced, with SoftBank surging 6.82% to approach the 6,000 mark at 5,971 JPY, and Kioxia jumping 7.93% to 58,780 JPY.

On September 4 (last Friday), stronger-than-expected nonfarm payrolls triggered a collective decline across the three major U.S. stock indices, but the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index surged over 3%. U.S. tech stocks and AI chip leaders such as Nvidia (NVDA), Marvell (MRVL), and AMD (AMD) rose sharply, injecting strong capital confidence into Japanese and South Korean markets, which are highly reliant on electronics and semiconductor supply chains.
