Japanese Firm Metaplanet Secures $5.4 Billion in Funding — Accelerates Bitcoin Strategy as Stock Surges 26%!

TradingKey – Metaplanet, a Japanese Bitcoin investment firm, has announced a $5.4 billion funding round, fueling its Bitcoin holdings and sending its stock soaring 26%.

On Monday, June 9, following its latest funding announcement, Metaplanet’s stock jumped 26%, reaching $11.65.

On Friday, Metaplanet unveiled a $5.4 billion financing plan, marking the largest such initiative in Japan’s capital markets history. The funds will be used to expand Bitcoin holdings, accelerating Metaplanet’s strategic BTC reserve.

In early 2024, Metaplanet adopted a Bitcoin investment strategy, following the footsteps of Strategy Inc (MSTR) — which has contributed to Metaplanet’s sustained stock rally. Over the past year, Metaplanet’s share price has skyrocketed 628%.

According to Metaplanet’s June 2 update, the company currently holds 8,888 BTC. Its goal is to amass 210,000 BTC by the next Bitcoin halving, expected by the end of 2027.
