Russia shares lower at close of trade; MOEX Russia down 0.71%

Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil&Gas, Power and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia declined 0.71% to hit a new 52-week low.

The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were NK Rosneft PAO (MCX:ROSN), which rose 3.03% or 13.80 points to trade at 468.85 at the close. Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) added 2.95% or 1.32 points to end at 46.07 and PIK (MCX:PIKK) was up 2.67% or 16.60 points to 638.30 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Moskovskiy Kreditnyi Bank OAO (MCX:CBOM), which lost 4.31% or 0.25 points to trade at 5.61 in late trade. Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRODR) declined 2.79% or 32.20 points to end at 1,120.00 and AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) shed 2.74% or 0.42 points to 14.75.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 130 to 112 and 11 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.

The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 7.28% to 38.71.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.11% or 2.80 to $2,524.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 4.53% or 3.33 to hit $70.22 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.01% or 0.01 to trade at $73.71 a barrel.

USD/RUB was up 0.88% to 87.86, while EUR/RUB rose 0.89% to 97.05.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 101.69.
