On its third-quarter 2026 earnings call, held on Oct. 29, 2026, Harley-Davidson (NYSE:HOG) raised its full-year 2026 financial guidance. Operational turnarounds depend on inventory discipline and pricing power rather than unconstrained wholesale shipments. Lower channel inventory gives the business room to protect dealer profitability and launch new motorcycle lines. Three takeaways from management's call show where the business is heading.

1. Channel Inventory Discipline Drives North American Retail Expansion

North American retail sales grew 9% year over year while dealer inventory fell 26%. Management aligned wholesale shipments below retail demand to clear older models and improve dealer profitability under Back to the Bricks, the company's operational turnaround strategy.

Domestic retail rose more than 9%, extending strength in our home market. It shows that riders respond when we put the right motorcycles, dealer engagement, and marketing support in the market. We also improved dealer inventory health and quality.
-- Artie Starrs, Chief Executive Officer

2. Focused Motorcycle Launches Reclaim Cruiser Market Share

New mid-year motorcycle releases generated high manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP, or sticker price) realization. These authentic models expanded market share in the U.S. Softail family, a line of cruiser motorcycles built with hidden rear suspension systems.

Sell-through is strong. MSRP realization is at a two-year high, and we have gained significant market share, particularly in U.S. Softail. The signal is clear. The market responds to desirable authentic Harley-Davidson motorcycles supported by a sharper go-to-market approach.
-- Artie Starrs, Chief Executive Officer

3. Capital Discipline Limits Subsidiary Losses and Funds Buybacks

Management stopped funding operating losses at LiveWire Group, the electric motorcycle subsidiary it spun off in 2022, as the unit formed a restructuring committee. The parent company repurchased $91 million of its own shares. It maintained a net cash balance at Harley-Davidson Motor Company (HDMC), its core motorcycle segment.

On Monday, LiveWire announced that a special restructuring committee has been formed. As was previously stated, we do not intend to fund the company's operating losses.
-- Artie Starrs, Chief Executive Officer

Looking Ahead

Domestic retail momentum builds across major product lines, and management shows clear satisfaction with dealer margin improvements. The company holds durable advantages in brand loyalty, rider training infrastructure, and direct dealer networks. Management watches inventory discipline, supply chain reliability, and international production rollouts as new middleweight bikes enter global markets.

Looking ahead and assuming the current tariff structure stays in place, we don't expect gross tariff costs in 2027 to be higher than in 2026. We've already offset part of the tariff impact through overall business performance, and we expect that to continue.
-- Jonathan Root, Chief Financial and Commercial Officer

Upcoming product introductions and global dealer events offer catalysts for long-term growth. Management plans to use inventory control and manufacturing discipline to build enterprise cash flow ahead of its anniversary year.

Significant work remains, but the early evidence supports our strategy. We will keep listening to dealers and riders, making disciplined choices on inventory, product cost and capital, and holding ourselves accountable for translating the Harley-Davidson brand into stronger, more durable performance.
-- Artie Starrs, Chief Executive Officer
