Fed Pause Supports Bitcoin as Crypto Exchange Collapse Turmoil Risks BTC Drop to $58,000

TradingKey - The Fed keeps interest rates unchanged; Bitcoin maintains its range-bound trend, but is pressured by waves of crypto exchange closures.

On July 30, Bitcoin ( BTC) price maintained its range-bound trend, smoothly weathering the Federal Reserve (Fed) policy meeting. Over the past 24 hours, Bitcoin fluctuated by less than 1%, trading in a narrow range around $64,000, and was temporarily reported at $64,007.

At 2:00 a.m. Beijing time on Thursday (the 30th), the Federal Reserve officially announced its interest rate decision, showing that the target range for the federal funds rate remains unchanged at 3.50-3.75%. This is the fifth consecutive pause, meaning the risk of a hawkish resumption of rate hikes, which the market feared most, has been ruled out. Global funding costs have not risen further, establishing a relatively solid policy floor for Bitcoin at $64,000.

From a capital perspective, in an environment where the rate-cut path remains uncertain and high interest rates persist, funds have not fully flowed out of the crypto market. Instead, structural allocations are being made through spot Bitcoin ETFs, providing Bitcoin with strong institutional buying support. Yesterday, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs saw net inflows of over $32 million, ending a streak of net outflows for the past four consecutive trading days.

However, a wave of closures is sweeping across cryptocurrency exchanges. Today, reports surfaced in the market that exchange BitMart is facing withdrawal difficulties, with users posting for help on social media platform X. It is reported that BitMart previously attracted users through stablecoin wealth management products such as USDG and PYUSD, but withdrawal channels have been shut down one after another, allowing only small withdrawals of around 100 USDT. Last Sunday (July 26), the exchange announced it would gradually cease operations while withdrawal services would remain open, which currently does not appear to be the case.

Even earlier, the veteran cryptocurrency exchange BitMEX also announced its closure. Last Thursday (July 23), BitMEX announced that it would stop opening new positions starting August 26, 2026, supporting only position reduction operations, and would officially close its exchange services on September 23, halting all new user registrations starting that day.

The consecutive closures of BitMEX and BitMart are the inevitable result of the crypto market's "survival of the fittest and weeding out of mid-tier players." It marks the transition of the cryptocurrency market from an early stage of high-leverage retail speculation to a new order of top-tier compliant platforms, on-chain decentralized finance (DeFi), and institutional ETFs. However, it has also dealt a heavy blow to the market's bullish confidence, particularly hurting mid-sized CEXs and the altcoin ecosystem.

In addition, if BitMart can guarantee normal withdrawals for users, panic will be contained. Conversely, if it cannot, or is suspected of misappropriating client assets, it may repeat the path of FTX, triggering panic and causing the already fragile market to collapse. Currently, Bitcoin prices are in the range of $58,000 to $67,000, with bears holding the upper hand, and there is a higher probability of retesting the lower bound of $58,000.
