Samsung to Roll Out USDC transfers on Solana Across 82 Million US Galaxy Devices

Samsung is partnering with Solana to enable cross border USDC transfers through their samsung wallet for users in the US. The announcement dropped on October 7 from the Solana foundation and marks another step toward crypto infrastructure making its way into mainstream financial products. The feature is set to go live on 82 million Galaxy devices in the US, starting from the last week of October. 

Users won’t need a separate crypto application to access and transfer stablecoins. The feature will be built into the Samsung Wallet and Samsung Pay apps, which people already use for their cards, boarding passes and IDs. Fiat on and off-ramps are built in, so money converts to and from local currency at either end. Solana settles the payment in the background and users carry out these cross border transfers in a seamless way through an experience they are already familiar with. Samsung also says that the feature will make its way to more markets based on local regulation. 

Samsung Skips the Sign-Up Step Entirely

The stablecoin adoption story has mostly asked something of the user first. Whether it be downloading a separate application, fund an exchange account or learning how to manage a crypto wallet, there was a learning curve attached to using stablecoins. This partnership with Samsung asks for none of that. Anyone with a Galaxy phone in the US and an updated Wallet app has access. 

Woncheol Chai, EVP and Head of the Digital Wallet Team at the Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics, said Galaxy users should be able to get stablecoins “without having to navigate the complexity of traditional crypto tools.” Solana Foundation President Lily Liu, called this partnership as an inflection point for stablecoins moving from being seen as a crypto product to just another way to move money.  

Samsung Answers What It Left Open at Unpacked 

At this year’s Galaxy Unpacked event in London, Samsung’s flagship product launch event, the company showcases a sample Wallet screen holding a USDC balance. At the time, there was no launch date neither was there any indication on the issuer or the chain. Cryptopolitan’s newsletter noted the next day that the issuer choice would show which regulatory bet Samsung was making. 

Remittances Get the First Slot 

Samsung’s foray into crypto is not new. Last year, Samsung partnered with Coinbase to bring crypto access to millions of Galaxy users in the US directly through the Wallet app. The news also puts Samsung ahead of its biggest competitors in Apple Pay and Google Wallet. 

Cross border remittances still come with a hefty fee attached to them, which helps explain why Samsung started here.  According to the latest data from the World Bank, a $200 cross-border transfer costs an average of 6.36% in fees, against a UN target of 3%. Samsung hasn’t published fees for the new feature yet, and that number will decide how much of the gap it closes.

Solana Lands Another Payments Heavyweight

The deal adds a consumer hardware giant to a Solana payments roster that already includes PayPal and Western Union. Stablecoin supply on the network is up nearly 20% year over year, and Solana has processed more than $5.25 trillion in stablecoin volume so far in 2026, according to the Foundation.
