Video game developer Shift Up announced plans to release its sci-fi-themed game Stellar Blade on PC in 2025. According to the video game developer, the Stellar Blade PC port may be more popular than its PS port, helping the game exceed the sales recorded after its release on PlayStation.

The PC port release was recently confirmed in the Korean game developer’s Q3 performance report, released on November 12. Shift Up notably said that it is considering the game’s PC release but did not give a definite date or quarter for the launch.

Shift Up first suggested that the game would come to PC in August this year. Before the August update, the company mentioned that the delay was caused by a hold-up in the contractual relationships required for the release.

Stellar Blade, a single-player game following the protagonist soldier Eve, was released earlier this year exclusively on PlayStation 5. The game sold over 1 million copies by the end of June. Stellar Blade’s publisher is Sony Interactive Entertainment, and the game retails at PlayStation stores at $69.99.

Black Myth: Wukong’s success fuels expectations

Shift Up is confident about Stellar Blade’s performance on PC than on PS5 due to the success of another game, Black Myth: Wukong. The game, developed by Game Science, sold over 10 million copies within 3 days of release on PC and PS5. Some gamers referred to it as the most successful game of all time upon launch.

Daniel Ahmad, a Niko Partners analyst, mentioned that Black Myth: Wukong was by far the fastest-selling game of all time. Ahmad also highlighted that the game’s success helped it surpass big names, such as Elden Ring and Hogwarts Legacy.

Some gamers are still skeptical about Stellar Blade’s expected success on PC. After the August announcement, one commenter said that the game would perform worse than expected, suggesting that PC gaming is “garbage.” Another questioned whether PC gamers will require a PSN account to access the game.

Stellar Blade to get Nier: Automata DLC plus other updates

In the spirit of adding new content for its game, Shift Up is adding a game extension for Stellar Blade, Nier: Automata, which is supposed to launch on November 20. While the Nier: Automata release announcement came earlier, PlayStation confirmed the DLC’s release date on November 11.

PlayStation mentioned in its announcement that Stellar Blade drew significant inspiration from the Nier: Automata game. The company explained that the upcoming collaboration shows the “mutual respect and creativity” the directors of both games have. The Nier: Automata DLC will introduce its character Emil, who will be voiced by Maii Kadowaki, to the Stellar Blade universe.

The announcement further confirmed Photo Mode, which will help players capture moments in the game. The mode will introduce camerawork, filters, and more, making the captured content from battles, landscapes, etc., more appealing.  Photo Mode will also allow players to create unique looks and poses using Eve and other game characters.

Lastly, PlayStation highlighted the recent updates players can enjoy on the Stellar Blade game. The announcement revealed four more costumes and a new accessory, which will give the characters more personality. There will also be lip-sync support for 6 languages, including French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Latin American, Spanish, and German.
