FTSE 100 opened in the green today; U.K. Shares mixed at market open

Investing.com – U.K. equities started with gains on Wednesday, with rises in majority of sectors, the most notable ones being the Beverages, Mining, Life Insurance and Oil & Gas sectors.

At the market open in London, the FTSE 100 Index climbed 0.24%. The FTSE 250 Index and the FTSE 350 Index also rose. The FTSE 250 increased 0.04%, while the FTSE 350 was up by 0.24%.

  • Pershing Square (NYSE:SQ): Rose 1.99% or 72.00 points to 3,684.00
  • Diageo (LON:DGE): Climbed 1.19% or 29.7 points to 2,531.7
  • Barclays (LON:BARC): Increased 1.02% or 2.30 points to 227.70

Top Losers:

  • Melrose Industries (LON:MRON): Declined 4.79% or 24.50 points to 486.50
  • Admiral Group (LON:ADML): Fell 0.68% or 20.0 points to 2,931.0
  • Diploma (LON:DPLM): Dropped 0.59% or 26.00 points to 4,342.00

In Commodities Trading:

  • Gold Futures for December delivery climbed 11.30 points to 2,528.00 a troy ounce.

  • GBP/USD is cruising over 1.31.
