TradingKey - Palantir (PLTR) will report its third-quarter 2026 financial results after the U.S. market close on November 2. On the final trading day ahead of the earnings release, the company's stock price fell 6.27% to close at $184.11, touching an intraday low of $183.19 and pulling back about 7.4% for the week. Compared with its previous record high of around $213, the stock has retraced about 14%, indicating that investors are reducing risk exposure to high-valuation AI stocks ahead of earnings.
Wall Street expects Palantir's third-quarter revenue to reach approximately $2.18 billion, up about 84% year-over-year; earnings per share are expected to be $0.41, nearly doubling from $0.21 in the same period last year. Consensus forecasts are already higher than the company's previous revenue guidance of $2.160 billion to $2.164 billion.
The most noteworthy metric for the third quarter remains the U.S. commercial business. Palantir's current high-growth expectations are largely built on corporate clients accelerating the deployment of AI software. If U.S. commercial revenue, customer count, and large contract values continue to exceed expectations, it will prove that AIP demand is still translating into actual revenue, providing fundamental support for the stock's upward momentum.
Government business performance is equally important. Investments in AI software by U.S. defense, intelligence, and public sector agencies provide Palantir with a long-term backlog foundation, but government contract signings and revenue recognition typically exhibit some volatility. If the commercial and government businesses can grow in tandem, the company's revenue structure will gain greater stability.
Ahead of earnings, Palantir trades at a forward P/E ratio of nearly 97x, significantly higher than most large software and semiconductor companies. At such a high valuation, the market demands that the company consistently deliver 'above-expected growth' rather than merely maintaining standard solid performance.

From a technical perspective, Palantir has broken below its short-term support level of $185, which will be the primary barrier to reclaim in a post-earnings rebound. If the stock price moves back above $185, the next resistance area lies between $194 and $200; only a high-volume breakout above $200 would allow the market to retest the record high of around $213.
Based on the closing price of $184.11, a recovery to $213 would require a gain of approximately 15.7%. This magnitude is slightly higher than the expected post-earnings volatility of about 13.3% implied by the options market. The company needs to deliver positive signals across revenue, EPS, U.S. commercial business growth, and future guidance simultaneously to prompt capital to chase record highs once again.
Conversely, if performance merely meets expectations, or if U.S. commercial revenue and full-year guidance are not revised upward, $185 could turn from support into resistance, and the stock price might test $180 further. If $180 fails to hold, the pullback could extend to the $170–$175 range.
