Kingdom Come 2 was off to a stellar start after its release, selling over one million copies within 24 hours. The game peaked at 176,285 concurrent players on Steam on the second day after it was released. The RPG adventure game is also set to include more content in planned updates.

Warhorse Studios had major plans for 2025, with the Czech studio mapping out the grand release of its second-ever major game. The Czech studio planned and released the sequel to its most successful game, Kingdom Come, breaking records from the get-go.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance breaks new records

Warhorse Studio announced that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 outdid sales expectations by locking in over one million copies in sales within the first 24 hours of its release. The action-adventure game was released on February 4, 2025, for PlayStation, Xbox Series S/X, and PC. The medieval RGP adventure game also broke the franchise’s Steam player count records set by its predecessor, Kingdom Come: Deliverance. The much-anticipated sequel peaked at 176,285 concurrent players on Steam on its second day of availability.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s first-day player count also broke its predecessors’ initial record of 96,069 concurrent players by reaching a day-one peak of 159,351 concurrent players. Industry players predicted that the game would continue its record-breaking run, given its current tally of 115,442 concurrent players on Steam and its positive reception among gamers. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has “Very Positive” player reviews on Steam.

The role-player open-world game is available in three versions: the Standard Edition, the Gold Edition, and the Collector’s Edition. The game’s Gold Edition will feature three unreleased DLCs and bonus content. Standard Edition players can purchase the DLCs as part of the digital bundle offer. However, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will not be available for the Saudi Arabian market after it was banned for depicting same-sex romance options, failing to adhere to the country’s media guidelines. The controversy surrounding the game resulted in mixed reactions before its release.

Gamers are also set to enjoy more content in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 after Warhorse Studios revealed its development roadmap on January 16, 2025. The developer said it would give free “quality of life” updates, including barbers, a hardcore mode, and horse racing via post-launch updates. The developer also revealed the game’s DLCs, which will be titled “Brushes with Death,” “Legacy of the Forge,” and “Mysteria Ecclesiae.” The DLC will be respectively released in the summer, autumn, and winter of 2025.

Gamers react to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s performance

Gamers online discussed the newly released game’s record-breaking streak after Warhorse Studios announced the sales figures. Some gamers said that the record-breaking streak was deserved due to the game’s quality.

Some gamers praised the game’s narrative, saying that it was very well written and that its performance was great despite the political sentiments surrounding it. The gamers said that they were looking forward to the “anti-woke” crowd listing Kingdom Come: Deliverance as an exception to the “go woke, go broke” narrative.

However, another section of gamers downplayed the game’s achievements by saying it was undeserving of the record-breaking run. Some gamers went as far as saying it would lose over 90% of its current players after two months due to its politically divisive content. Some gamers even compared the game to Baldur’s Gate and Monster Hunter Wilds Beta to say that its run was insignificant. Some gamers even said that the game’s performance would have been better if the same-sex content wasn’t included in it.
