On its fourth-quarter fiscal year 2026 earnings call, held on Oct. 27, 2026, PriceSmart (NASDAQ:PSMT) reported total net merchandise sales of almost $5.8 billion for the full fiscal year. That steady top-line growth shows how effectively the warehouse club operator expands its footprint in international markets. Higher customer retention fuels predictable cash flows to fund long-term real estate development. Three things management said stand out.

1. Premium Tier Upgrades Expand High-Margin Dues

Upgrading members to Platinum, the company's premium membership tier, raises upfront annual dues and deepens member engagement. That shift drove full-year membership income up 17.8% to $100.8 million, creating high-margin revenue that flows straight to operating income.

Platinum grew from 17.9% of our membership base at the end of fiscal 2025 to 23.4% at the end of fiscal 2026, a 550 basis point shift in one year.
-- David Price, Chief Executive Officer

2. Management Delays Tech Implementation to Standardize Operations

Upgrading operational software across multiple countries requires restructuring workflows before deploying code. Management chose to delay the full implementation of RELEX, an automated supply chain forecasting and replenishment system, so local buying teams can first standardize vendor data.

I really try to go by the mantra of "let's go slow to go fast," because I would rather get this right and have the implementation and change management handled well than to rush it and to damage the business.
-- David Price, Chief Executive Officer

3. Warehouse Network Expands Into South America

Building new warehouse clubs requires significant upfront capital, but entering new countries unlocks long-term compounding. The company is establishing operations in Chile while advancing a pipeline of four additional clubs across existing Central American and Caribbean markets.

Chile represents a meaningful milestone for this company and a market we believe has significant long-term potential.
-- David Price, Chief Executive Officer

Looking Ahead

Traffic and purchase amounts are rising together across key markets. The warehouse operator relies on its local distribution hubs and private-label inventory to absorb shipping bottlenecks, keeping prices competitive across its 59 clubs.

Overall, members came more often, and they spent more when they did.
-- David Price, Chief Executive Officer

Long-term value relies on balancing club expansion with disciplined spending. By scaling new locations in Chile and Jamaica, the company aims to compound cash flows over time.

We remain focused on deploying capital thoughtfully, managing our cost structure with discipline, and delivering the consistent performance that builds long-term shareholder value.
-- Gualberto Hernandez, Chief Financial Officer
