US President Trump calls on Fed Governor Cook to resign
In a post published on Truth Social on Wednesday, United States (US) President Donald Trump called on Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook to resign, providing a link to a Bloomberg article that is titled "Trump Ally Calls on Bondi to Probe Fed’s Cook Over Mortgages."
"The director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency is urging Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook over a pair of mortgages, the latest in a series of moves by the Trump administration to increase legal scrutiny of Democratic figures and appointees." Monetary policy in the US is shaped by the Federal Reserve (Fed). The Fed has two mandates: to achieve price stability and foster full employment. QE usually weakens the US Dollar.
Quantitative tightening (QT) is the reverse process of QE, whereby the Federal Reserve stops buying bonds from financial institutions and does not reinvest the principal from the bonds it holds maturing, to purchase new bonds. It is usually positive for the value of the US Dollar.
