Mexico shares lower at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC down 0.27%

Investing.com – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrials, Consumer Goods&Services and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC lost 0.27% to hit a new 52-week low.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (BMV:VOLARA), which rose 4.97% or 0.79 points to trade at 16.67 at the close. Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico SAB De CV Class B (BMV:GAPB) added 2.56% or 9.28 points to end at 372.32 and Gentera SAB de CV (BMV:GENTERA) was up 1.96% or 0.50 points to 26.05 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Orbia Advance Corporation SAB de CV (BMV:ORBIA), which lost 2.56% or 0.47 points to trade at 17.89 in late trade. Wal Mart de Mexico SAB de CV (BMV:WALMEX) declined 2.48% or 1.40 points to end at 54.95 and Fomento Economico Mexicano UBD (BMV:FEMSAUBD) shed 2.14% or 4.07 points to 186.23.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 132 to 93 and 24 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.61% or 15.70 to $2,570.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.32% or 0.22 to hit $68.65 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.26% or 0.19 to trade at $72.47 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.26% to 20.44, while EUR/MXN fell 0.76% to 21.51.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.44% at 106.85.
