Hexcel expects $500 million in incremental annual sales from peak aircraft production.
Commercial aerospace sales grew 21% year over year in the third quarter.
Management expanded its share repurchase authorization to $750 million.
On its third quarter of 2026 earnings call, held on Oct. 22, 2026, Hexcel (NYSE:HXL) reaffirmed its full-year 2026 guidance, expecting net sales between $2.025 billion and $2.150 billion. Higher commercial aircraft production is driving demand for advanced lightweight composite materials, prompting management to restart idle lines and recruit staff ahead of schedule. Three things management said stand out.
Restarting idle manufacturing lines and onboarding assembly workers creates temporary cost pressure, but running higher production volumes through existing factories improves fixed-cost absorption. Leadership expects price increases on renewed contracts and continuous operational improvements to expand profitability over time.
Combined with pricing increases, as contracts renew, productivity improvements and disciplined cost control, the production ramp provides a path to approximately 18% adjusted operating margins before the end of the decade.
-- Thomas C. Gentile, Chairman, CEO and President
Commercial aircraft manufacturing is expanding across major jet platforms, boosting demand for lightweight carbon fiber composite structures. As aircraft builders reach peak production rates, long-term supply agreements generate substantial revenue growth.
As Airbus and Boeing reach their publicly announced peak production rates, we expect approximately $500 million in incremental commercial aerospace sales annually from our existing contracts compared to fiscal year 2020 sales.
-- Thomas C. Gentile, Chairman, CEO and President
Debt reduction remains on track to hit targeted leverage ratios of 1.5 to 2.0 times net debt to adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) during the fourth quarter. Cash flow generation has enabled the board of directors to nearly double the size of its stock repurchase program.
Reflecting confidence in Hexcel's growth and cash generation potential, our board has increased the share repurchase authorization to $750 million from the $381 million remaining as of September 30 of this year.
-- Thomas C. Gentile, Chairman, CEO and President
Commercial aircraft output is accelerating across major manufacturing programs, and leadership isn't hiding its eagerness to ramp up production lines. Proprietary composite technology and deep customer relationships anchor its competitive advantage, while leadership watches pricing discipline and onboarding efficiency.
Customer demand continues to increase, and we are restarting idle lines early. And investing now in hiring people to prepare Hexcel for higher production levels in 2027 and beyond.
-- Thomas C. Gentile, Chairman, CEO and President
Integrated manufacturing scales with rising delivery rates, creating a clear runway for long-term shareholder value.
Our differentiated portfolio, technical capabilities and strong customer positions, we are confident in Hexcel's ability to convert this growth into stronger margins, cash generation and long term value for our stockholders.
