On its third-quarter 2026 earnings call, held on Oct. 15, 2026, Marsh & McLennan (NYSE:MRSH) reported 8% revenue growth and highlighted expanding cost-efficiency gains across its global operations. Long-term shareholders care because structural cost savings and proprietary artificial intelligence tools allow the advisory business to protect operating margins while funding targeted organic growth. Three takeaways from the call stand out.

1. Efficiency Targets Expand to $600 Million in Savings

Internal process overhauls and Business and Client Services (BCS), an internal operating group focused on shared services, yield significantly greater savings than management originally projected. Corporate leadership plans to direct these unlocked funds back into technology upgrades and hiring frontline producers.

When we launched Thrive a year ago, we targeted $400 million in savings. We are now seeing greater opportunities coming from our Business and Client Services or BCS and advances in technology. As a result, we are increasing our Thrive savings target to $600 million.
-- John Quinlan Doyle, President and Chief Executive Officer

2. Digital Workflows Slash Processing Times to Hours

Deploying specialized software tools directly cuts the time required to complete complex commercial placements. Automating backend tasks allows brokers to process higher deal volumes without increasing overall overhead.

In fact, 93% of our wholesale trading in London is now digital and the time to process placements is reduced from 2 to 4 weeks to a couple of hours with Workbench.
-- John Quinlan Doyle, President and Chief Executive Officer

3. Acquisitive Growth Relies on Middle-Market Deals

Rather than risking capital on disruptive mega-mergers, the corporate mergers and acquisitions (M&A) strategy centers on steady regional bolt-on purchases. This disciplined approach leaves ample cash available to buy back stock and maintain capital flexibility.

We have done over 130 deals since we began that strategy about 15 years ago. It cannot be replicated, and I would not change our business for any business in the market.
-- John Quinlan Doyle, President and Chief Executive Officer

Looking Ahead

Underlying client demand remains resilient across global consulting and risk practices, giving leadership clear visibility into full-year performance. The business relies on expansive client relationships, proprietary risk data sets, and pricing discipline to maintain its competitive moat.

For the full year, we continue to expect underlying revenue growth similar to the levels we generated in 2025, along with another year of margin expansion and solid adjusted EPS growth.
-- Mark Christopher McGivney, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer

Execution across client advisory services and internal automation keeps adjusted earnings per share (EPS), a measure of net profitability per corporate share, on an upward trajectory. Strategic clarity and steady capital deployment position the firm for continued durability.

We remain confident in our strategy and energized about what is ahead.
-- John Quinlan Doyle, President and Chief Executive Officer
