Fed's Hammack: Labor market stabilizing, policy around neutral
Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack is crossing the wires. She said that the Unemployment Rate is stabilizing, following the release of the strong January Nonfarm Payrolls report in the US.
Hammack added that the labor market looks like its finding a healthy balance and reiterated that it is important for the Fed to get back inflation to the 2% goal. She added that policy is “right around neutral,” and that it’s good for the Fed to hold rats unchanged.

Monetary policy in the US is shaped by the Federal Reserve (Fed). The Fed has two mandates: to achieve price stability and foster full employment. Quantitative tightening (QT) is the reverse process of QE, whereby the Federal Reserve stops buying bonds from financial institutions and does not reinvest the principal from the bonds it holds maturing, to purchase new bonds. It is usually positive for the value of the US Dollar.
