Marvell Stock Price Forecast: FMS Product Launch Ignites Rally; Can MRVL Return to $300?

Source Tradingkey

TradingKey - Custom AI chip giant Marvell Technology ( MRVL )'s stock price continued to trend lower after touching approximately $290 in early July, briefly falling to the $160 range on July 29, before halting its decline and rebounding to close near $188 at the end of the month.

Entering August, the rebound accelerated, with a single-day gain of nearly 13% on August 4 to close at $218.59. However, despite the clear recent rally, the current share price of $210.54 (as of the August 6 close) is still about 36% below its 52-week high of approximately $329, leaving significant room to recoup its losses.

What Is Behind the Recent MRVL Rally?

Marvell's stock price has rebounded recently, primarily driven by the next-generation AI memory and storage products launched by Marvell at the FMS 2026 summit on August 4.

The new products include the Bravera SC6 PCIe 6.0 SSD controller. This product delivers double the performance of the previous-generation SC5 controller and is primarily targeted at cloud service providers to support AI, cloud computing, and enterprise workloads, with sampling expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.

The company also showcased its Structera X memory expansion products, designed to improve server memory efficiency, and its Photonic Fabric technology, which supports cross-rack memory sharing.

The FMS 2026 summit took place from August 4 to 6 at the Santa Clara Convention Center, where multiple Marvell executives attended and participated in presentations and panel discussions.

The rally was also driven by broader market sentiment. Broadcom ( AVGO ), Intel ( INTC) and other peers saw their stock prices rise in tandem that day, reflecting a recovery in risk appetite across the sector following strong earnings reports from major tech companies.

Beyond product launches, there were other positive developments at the corporate level. On July 29, Marvell announced it will invest $250 million in India over the next three years to expand its Bengaluru site for the research and development of next-generation AI technologies.

The company also confirmed that its fiscal second quarter 2027 earnings conference call will be held on August 27, 2026, at 1:45 p.m. Pacific Time, and announced that it will host an Investor Day in New York on October 6, featuring presentations from Chairman and CEO Matt Murphy and the executive team.

Wall Street Average Price Target at $257: Can MRVL Still Rise?

Along with the dramatic fluctuations in the stock price, institutional ratings have also shown clear divergence. RBC gave a price target of $360, believing that Marvell can maintain a revenue growth rate of over 40% over the next three years, with data center business revenue expected to grow at over 50% annually.

Morgan Stanley ( MS) is relatively cautious, maintaining an "Equal-Weight" rating and a $195 price target, but pointing out that Google's Frozen v2 AI chip is a potential opportunity for Marvell's future custom chip business.

Meanwhile, clearly bearish voices have also emerged. An independent analyst at Seeking Alpha gave a "Sell" rating with a price target of $100, implying a downside of about 46% from the current stock price, on the grounds that although Marvell's data center business accounts for 76% of its revenue and management has set a high revenue target of $16.5 billion for fiscal year 2028, the current valuation has already priced in excessively high expectations, making the existing valuation hard to sustain unless growth further accelerates and cyclical risks are eliminated.

As of August 6, based on Wall Street's average price target of approximately $256.91, there is still an implied upside of about 22.02%.

MRVL Stock Price Prediction: Can It Return to the $300 Mark?

On the technical front, in the short term, the stock price has reclaimed the 20-day moving average (202.05), but the 50-day moving average (240.45) and the 60-day moving average (230.23) above pose heavy resistance.

The MACD histogram turned positive on August 4 and expanded to +6.28 on August 5, with the DIF crossing above the DEA to form a golden cross; the KDJ golden cross has been confirmed, but the J-value has reached 98.85, entering overbought territory; the RSI is around 51, in neutral territory. Short-term momentum is strong, but the extreme J-value warns of the risk of chasing highs.

Upside resistance levels are sequentially at 222.67 (August 4 high), 230.23 (60-day moving average), and 240.45 (50-day moving average). To return to $300, the stock needs to effectively break through the 50-day moving average and firmly establish itself above $250.

On the fundamental front, Marvell will release its second quarter fiscal 2027 financial results on August 27. Combined with the launch of new products at the FMS summit and the fact that its data center business accounts for over 70% of revenue, market focus is concentrated on: whether new products can translate into actual orders and revenue; and whether management's guidance for the second half of the year and fiscal 2028 can validate the growth expectations of institutions like RBC, or confirm bears' concerns over valuation overstretch.

The current stock price remains about 36% below its all-time high, and institutional price targets range from $100 to $360, representing a level of divergence rarely seen among semiconductor stocks. The earnings report on August 27 and the Investor Day on October 6 will be two key nodes to test whether the AI storage narrative can materialize.
